    Dispersion behavior of nanoparticles in organic solvent depends on surface molecular structure, even if the material and size of particles are same. In order to discuss the effect of surface conditions of nanoparticles on dispersion behavior in organic solvent and surface modification behavior, single phase SiO2 and TiO2 nanoparticles and SiO2-TiO2 composite particles were prepared by using flash creation method (FC method) with different thermal source, DC plasma or burner. By the observation of TiO2-SiO2 composite particles by TEM-EDS system, the microstructure of composite particles was estimated that SiO2 layer coated on core TiO2 nanoparticles. Surface OH group structure, dispersion behavior in N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP) of each TiO2 nanoparticles was depended on the thermal source of FC method. When thermal source used was burner, the high OH group density and well dispersion behavior was observed. However, after surface modification by silane coupling agent, the aggregate size of TiO2 nanoparticles prepared by DC plasma in NMP was decreased.

    Photocatalysts cleaning dishwater have been studied to high performance. A fluid bed for cleaning dishwater is efficient to contact between photocatalytic particles and dishwater. However, submicron photocatalytic particles are difficult to collect and recover in the fluid bed. This paper presents photocatalytic composite particles in the fluid bed for cleaning dishwater. The developed photocatalytic composite particles consist of floating resin particles covered with photocatalytic particles (TiO2). The efficiency of the photocatalytic composite particles is occurred with an examination of concentration changes in organic dye (Rhodamine B) solution. As a result, after 90min the concentration of Rhodamine B is decreased to 10%. The reaction of Rhodamine B molecules was 2 steps reactions. 1st step was absorption on a surface of metal on photocatalytic particles, and 2nd step was displacement reaction by photocatalysis. Consequently, Rhodamine B molecules were reacted to Florescein molecules by the photocatalytic composite particles.

    Packed bed reactors are commonly employed for a general catalyst reactor, chemical heat pumps etc. However, the low effective thermal conductivities of packed bed reactors often lead to low performances. In this paper, heat transfer enhancement in packed bed reactor is investigated numerically and experimentally. As a promoter of thermal conduction, a brush made of carbon fiber with high thermal conductivity is introduced in the packed bed. As a result, the carbon fiber brush effectively transferred reaction heat and promote the reaction. Therefore, it is one of the strong candidates of thermal promoter in the packed bed reactors.
