The authors are developing educational games for learning the decision process and operation of public policies. For the first case, we've focused on space developments and started to make a board game in which players experience the realization process of space missions. In the design process of the game, we introduced a graphical modeling method called “machination" for mechanics modeling. In the machination method, the game mechanics are modeled and visualized using network diagrams. This method supports the discussion and cooperation between project members who have different specialties. In this paper, the concept of the space developing board game, the progress of the project and the design process with mechanics modeling are introduced.

The modeling process of ABM depends on investigations or observations by the author on the self. Thus, the modeling precision depends on the personal knowledge or experience of the author, which increases the cost of modeling. Moreover, reflecting the actual state of code of conduct of each agent or mechanism in the field is occasionally difficult. Thus, to extract models or tacit knowledge of agents, we considered a method in which we used a prototyping process as a tool in a dialog between the author and agent. This method supports the author and makes modeling easy and valid.

There is a phenomenon that successful firms were failed by the disruptive technology of new firms. This phenomenon is called Innovator's Dilemma. The value network, which is the cause of innovator's dilemma, in new market disruption changes in the different manner from low-end disruption. Dynamics of the market in consideration of different disruptions and of measures by successful firms still needs to be explained. This study describes two types of agent-based models each of which can represent the new market disruption and the low-end disruption respectively. Then it is shown that the models can reproduce the phenomena of innovator's dilemma. After that, dynamics of the market in consideration of the different two types of disruptions is shown and the measures by successful firms is analyzed.

IoT has been discussed in various places. The name of the Internet is being used, but the spread of the Internet was driven by consumer services, such as e-mail and WWW. On the other hand, IoT is mainly targeted to the enterprise systems, it is difficult to expect that sufficient services or technologies appear to spread like the Internet. Therefore, in this study, it is based on the SECI model of knowledge management, to give a methodology to obtain high-performance system by collecting as much fused a lot of information can be an existing system, and we aim to accelerate the IoT dissemination. In this paper, the method of a system integration will be given, and we'll show an example of effect for manufacturing.

Quality assurance of software is an important problem for a software development enterprise. A quality prediction using metrics is performed by many enterprises. There is Rayleigh model who used that the defect extraction rate per the unit time is based on Rayleigh distribution as the method to do a quality prediction based on the defect extraction history of the project concerned. There is a problem that anyone have to establish the defaults when doing parameter presumption. The defect extraction rate isn't based on Rayleigh distribution by a project, and there is a problem that it can't be predicted. Therefore the defect density obtained from the past Project Performance and the method to do a quality prediction using the Weibull distribution were considered.

In our previous studies, we analyzed maintenance and operation activities of the information system at a polytechnic college from the viewpoint of ITIL, and showed that those results were closely related to IT service management along with a strategy of the organization and users' needs. In this case study, we analyze IT service management from both viewpoints of strategies of organizations and users' needs. First, we draw a strategy map and evaluation indicators from maintenance and operation activities of the information systems at a polytechnic college referring to the balanced scorecard approach. Then we examine processes of ITIL to realize the strategy. From these results, we consider the details of the strategy of the information system, users' needs and IT service management.

We consider “scientific relevance" (Fukumoto, Matsushima and Koga, 2014) in research process of MBA thesis. Management research should be not only scientific rigor but also practical relevance. Against this rigor-relevance gap, we propose how academic research becomes scientific relevance for practices by showing usage of management theories. As first, we have three presentations by MBA student. Although their search are practical issues-driven, they have various insights on the relationship between management theories and practice. Finally, an academic management researcher proposes old and new direction of management research to inquire practical relevance based on the doctrinal discussion about OD that is the theoretical method to intervening in practices.

As a representative example, it is well known that choice probability of the target increases when there is an option which is obviously inferior to the target. This is called the attractive effect. By utilizing this effect efficiently, a firm can increase choice probability of its product. However, the factors influencing attractive effect are unclear. Thus, this study attempted to clarify those factors through experiments and provide new suggestions for understanding consumer purchase decision.

This study approach is divided into three steps. In the first step, this study selects and formulates the factors which represent HCM practices by means of principal component and factor analysis.
In the second step, personnel adjusted added (PAV) value is defined as the corporate output. The data is classified into two groups by cluster analysis.
In the third step, Multiple regression model is constructed to identify the HCM factors which influence PAV. This process establishes the model for objectively judging their success of HCM.

The progress of digitization rapidly promotes high-functionality and multi-functionality of products. However, it is more difficult for users to recognize the functions easily as functions of products become higher and more complex. Consumers don't necessarily evaluate the added value manufactures provide. It is required for firms to understand how consumers recognize the added value of products. The purposes of this study are quantitatively to identify the added value each manufacture provides and to clarify how consumers recognize those values. This study picked up digital still cameras and analyzed the text data of each firm's press-releases and consumers' reviews on a website by using text-mining. We provided new suggestions for understanding the process where added value is formed.

In a market where network effects exist, a firm acquiring high market share can have a competitive advantage. Once a firm successfully wins a large market share, it is difficult for other firms to capture the market share. However, although the Microsoft had kept a large market share for a long time in the operating system (OS) market where the network effects are typically at work, the Apple rapidly has increased its market share in recent years. This is a notable phenomenon. Focusing on the large market share of Apple in the smartphone market and the tablet terminator market, this study attempted to clarify the impact of the network effects from the smartphone and tablet terminator markets on consumer's OS purchasing decision making.

The objective of this study is to determine the reason for companies' selection of different methods of providing customer value through services in the Business Intelligence market and to ascertain the results obtained from these selected methods. Analysis is conducted through case studies of two typical BI vendors. The results indicate that while one vendor focuses only on providing the technological value of services, the other provides services for customers' business processes as well, in addition to the technological value. The reason for selecting different methods can be attributed to differences in customers' characteristics at the early stage of market entry. Additionally, the “Core Capability" of the former vendor is changing to “Core Rigidity" because of the changes in the market environment.

The purpose of this study is analysis of enthusiusm during discussion or workshop in such an analogical way that enthusiusm is interpreted as heat.

So far most studies human behaviour using heat have been formulated as only propagation of heat. In contrast, we focus on interaction of enthusiusm of two or more people to investigate mechanism of how new level of enthusiusm emerges when they have certain level of enthusiusm in terms of heat equations.

Cloud computing environments become important data processing infrastructures for enterprise information systems, not only for simple data storage. However, in the case of database transaction processing, we have to take a cloud unique data integrity concept "BASE" into account, in order to retain the equivalent data integrity level. This paper proposes a modeling and simulation based approach to verifying and evaluating the data integrity in the cloud, focusing on how this "BASE" affects the transaction processing. The approach is used in the system design phase in order to improve the reliability of transaction processing in the cloud. As a modeling and simulation tool, we use the timed-automaton based verification tool "UPPAAL", and the data integrity evaluation is performed by TCTL, a kind of temporal logic.

Recent progress of network and web technologies has made time constraints more critical issues in business processes. Business process specification languages like BPNM and BPEL are equipped with the temporal description elements, however they do not provide enough formality and rigorousness. In this paper we focus on two software design tools. One is the UML timing diagram, which enables us to express accurate time constraints. The other is the Colored Petri Net (CPN), which can validate time constraints rigorously. These two tools are consolidated into a single standardized process to express and validate the time constraints, which is applicable to both the business process and software design phases. Our proposed approach can resolve the temporal conflicts between these two different design phases.

This paper demonstrates the effect of imitative excitement aroused by corporate sports teams on a corresponding firm's development of sports products and subsequent performance. In the context of this paper, imitative excitement is a visceral experience felt in response to sports, much like the visceral response to performance in war. In this analysis, we perform a confirmatory factor analysis on 146 data from 19 volleyball teams between 2006 and 2014. Results of the analysis show that corporate team performance is positively related to the corresponding firm's performance via imitative excitement. In addition, a firm's size is positively associated with the number of corporate teams with which the firm is affiliated. This can exert a beneficial effect on profitability through the production of multiple sports-related products.

Many academic societies are facing the decrease of the number of members. In order to sustain the development of the society, differentiating the society from other ones is essential. However, under the circumstance that there are a lot of societies in a same field, it is difficult for not only outsiders but also even members to recognize the differences of the features among societies. This study picked up the academic societies related to the field of industrial engineering and attempted to visualize the positioning of those societies by applying text-mining to the academic papers published by each society. We demonstrated the effectiveness of using text-mining to analyze the positioning of the societies and provided useful information.

This study demonstrates the influence of academic disciplines in a “hanko" on the tenure of “rojus" who were councilors of the Edo shogunate. A hanko was a higher education facility for children of vassals in a feudal domain. This study employs negative binominal distribution analysis using 10 sets of panel data on hanko academic disciplines for a century from 1736 to 1835, in combination with 4 set of contemporary rojus's panel data. The results reveal that when the hanko in a roju's territory functioned as a hub and had high information centralities in the network, the roju's tenure was extended. The findings also indicate that the network established through the hanko's academic disciplines exerted a powerful influence on Edo society through information sharing in a feudal domain.

Theories of multinational corporations and manufacturing dictate that the strategies pursued by overseas plants and the mother factory are of real importance for competing in a global market. The mother factory serves as a large, central plant through which technological knowledge is transferred. Ferdows (1997) outlines the strategic role of plants as hierarchically classified in a firm's comprehensive overseas strategy. This study employs a network analysis through products type of vehicle among plants in the Japanese automobile industry. Results demonstrate that a technological knowledge network's shape varies according to the firm's overseas strategy. Furthermore, we defines the mother factory in Ferdows' strategic role of plants and we contribute theories of multinational corporations and organizational learning.

This study demonstrates that process management influences switch of organizational momentum direction. Organizational momentum is, preservation and expansion of the direction of organizational action. This research analyze 84 incidents data from 1990 to 2009 in “the Chemical Disaster database" using negative binomial regression. Analysis results show that greater ISO9000 experience prevents discrete recurrence of chemical disasters. Furthermore, interaction analysis reveals that big disasters prevent reduplication of the disasters, but small disasters recur with a high probability. Meanwhile, the recurrence of small disasters decrease depending on the extent of ISO9000 experience. This study contributes practical and organizational learning through identifying the manner in which process management influences switch of organizational momentum direction.

There are recommender systems to help make decisions of purchases. However, the existing algorithms of recommendation do not fully capture the customer's decision-making that was complicated by the current information society, because they simplify the customer's decision-making. Therefore, we need recommendations in consideration of complicated decision-making. On the other hand, the past few years, Deep Learning achieved in the field of image recognition and speech recognition. Using the Deep Learning, it can be expected that we'll be able to perform recommendations in consideration of complicated decision-making. In this study, we construct a recommendation algorithm using Deep Learning and evaluate its performance.
