The construction projects of new shinkansen lines and regional airports have been progressing steadily. Recently, some laws, which have a purpose to deregulate the transportation policy, were enacted. From these points, this study is to grasp mode choice characteristic of intercity passenger flow. A problem, however which is called as the variance of the value of time, is usually pointed out in the case of the modelling for the mode choice. A mixed logit model is applied to eliminate this problem. The model, which is binary type between the shinkansen and airline, is calibrated. The study concludes the model is effective for some simulations for the future alternatives.

This paper shows the characteristics of disparity on the current oversea tour trip in Japan with the analysis of several kinds of surveyed data in recent 30 years. It used the logistic curve for the formation of model to show the disparity of the personal attribute and regional characteristics. For the personal attributes, it adapted sex, age, occupation and income. For the regional characteristics, it adapted the level of income, information, leisure time, and transportation convenience. The study found out the structure and factor of disparity of personal attributes and regional characteristics. Finally, the study shows future trend of overseas tourist demand by regions in Japan.
