Tokyo has one of the most high-density railway networks in the world. However, fare systems of urban railway are separated by operators and not integrated. Passengers must pay each boarding fare to each operator when they transfer trains. Some passengers use detour route. In this study, integrated distance based fare system is proposed. Before proposition, some solutions in other cities are examined and compared. In addition, the proposition is assessed. One of important findings is proposed fare system improves social and consumer surplus.

The purpose of this paper was to develop the combination analysis method of visited places by foreign visitors to Japan. For identification of combination patterns, the topic model was applied using GPS tracking data of smartphone applications of foreign tourists. This model was supposed as a method of identifying segments of destinations and visitors simultaneously. The number of unique users collected in 2015 was 55,199. We had data cleaning for bias caused due to sampling ratio and the noise of GPS positioning data. In the estimation, it was found appropriate to set the number of topics as six. The visited rates and visitors’ topic distribution of each zone were also estimated by this model.

This paper aims to consider the possibility of cooperative relationship among ports and government for efficient port management in the southern part of Viet Nam. First, we obtain parameters of the Vietnamese shippers’ port choice behavior by using the disaggregated data. Second, we start with the equilibrium analysis under this situation as the base case. Third, we carry out the feasible study of the government port vertical cooperation for improving social benefits. Our results show that the government-port vertical cooperation scheme for port charges is feasible and more efficient than the port expansion in the southern part of Viet Nam.

The efficiency of hinterland transport for containers is expected to improve by “Round Use” of empty containers, and this might contribute to tackling with the challenges regarding hinterland transport cost, shortage of truck drivers, and congestion at port areas. In this paper, a measure for such improvements is proposed under the utilization of dryports and shuttle services between seaports and dryports. Effects by the measure is also numerically assessed under a framework where operation practice of dryports can be introduced and effects on various parties concerned such as shippers or trucking companies can be considered.

Long-distance ferries are frequently used in domestic long-distance freight transportation, but their actual condition and merits are not well understood. In this paper, we analyzed features and tasks for long-distance ferries and other transportation agencies （railway, truck, domestic shipping）. And, we computed that the proportion of long distance truck （transport distance over 500km） using long-distance ferry is 15％, using multiple statistical materials.
