We survey and analyze the trend of international standardization of business protocols for data exchanges in Maritime Single Window (MSW) through IMO Compendium on Facilitation and Electronic Business (FAL Compendium). Based on the survey and analysis, we conclude that: FAL Compendium has totally revised in 2019 and it lacks of consistency with the previous version of FAL Compendium; it might not be necessary to make Japan’s MSW corresponded with FAL Compendium immediately; and it is necessary to pay attention to the discussion on making the use of FAL Compendium become mandatory by the revision of FAL Convention.

Inbound policy making requires to identify the tour trip characteristics. The exogenous data aggregation would be, however, difficult because of too many possibilities in the combination of tour, or trip attributes. In order to find some significant and representative tour or trip patterns in foreign visitors to Japan, an analytical tool to overcome the conventional problems should be developed. This study applies a topic model, which can efficiently analyze the latent patterns in the Bag-of-words data set, to the data in Flow of Foreigners visiting to Japan, and clarifies the change of tour trip patterns.

Both positive and negative relationships between airport performance and LCCs have been reported in U.S. and Europe. The effect of LCC on airport management remains unclear, while air passenger movement has increased after LCCs’ entry. For the pourpose of investigating the relationships between airports and LCCs or inbound tourism, this paper estimate efficiency and productivity of Japanese airports administrated by central government with the data from 2010 to 2016, by using DEA and Malmquist productivity index. Moreover, factor analysis with double bootstrap procedure is conducted in the second stage regression. We find that Japanese airports have maintained a productivity growth rate of about 2.65% per year, and the increase in the LCC share of domestic market has a positive effect on airport efficiency.
