The present writer tried to examine the dissolution of burned feldspar and Katô-kaolin in 10% HCl, and found that feldspar is nearly insoluble in the acid but the quantity of Al
2O
3 in K tô-kaolin dissolved in this acid generally increases with the rise of temperature of burning. At 800° C, almost all Al
2O
3 in burned Katô-kaolin is thus extracted. A great number of determinations of the soluble Al
2O
3 obtained, are carried out volumetrically by 8-Oxyquinoline-acetate method and also gravimetrically; the difference between two methods isnever greater than 0.7%. Further, much time for the new method of rational analysis is saved by using the 8-Oxyquinoline-acetate method.
