    The study aims to clarify changes in learning of disaster prevention through analysis of 283 previously published textbooks in junior high school home economics curriculum. Frameworks and items are extrapolated to analyse the study of disaster prevention. Historical analysis reveals changes in textbooks in five distinct periods. Textbooks from1947 to 1950 contained a large amount information on disaster prevention involving various everyday situations. In textbooks from 1951 to 1957, natural disaster prevention was largely restricted to the study of living conditions. Textbooks from1958 to 1996 generally omitted consideration of disaster prevention involving natural disasters. Influenced by the Great Hanshin and Awaji Earthquake of 1995, textbooks from1997 to 2015 saw an increase in concern with disaster prevention involving individuals, families and communities. The latest textbooks feature disaster prevention in light of the Great East Japan Earthquake of 2011 and the living conditions of pupils. For the better future disaster prevention curriculum, more comprehensive and cross-field groundworks are suggested.

    To widely spread a program aimed to make students interested in Kimono culture through classes that includes try-on Yukata experience , it is essential to understand the current situation of home economics teachers’ knowledge and ability concerning Kimono culture. For teacher training programs, we were able to hold lectures concerning Kimono culture and practicum for putting on yukatas. A survey was conducted to participants in each of these classes. From the analysis it was found that to conduct classes that include try-on Yukata experience, the development in knowledge and skills of Kimono was crucial in growing the confidence of the teachers. Lack of material and assistant was not a reason that teachers did not implement Kimono culture in the classes. The study showed that by providing the teacher example classes and also having them understand the purpose of implementing such classes in home economic classes, the teachers were able to understand its efficiency and lead to motivation to conduct such classes. Also rental kimonos and cooporation with the local people lead to the diverse teaching styles of Kimomo culture.

    The purpose of this paper is to consider comprehensively current status and issues of not necessary since the cord “current” is in the same sentence practical family education in junior high school home economics. This study analyzes practical papers in “Theory and Practice” published by All Japan Industrial Arts and Home Economics Studies Group. The results of the analysis show four issues concerning the current status ; (1)overemphasize an early childhood care,(2)the difficulty of identifying research backgrounds,(3)place meet of weight on the professional development of teaching and ,(4)lower evaluation of validity. The results of this study made clear that family education in junior high school home economics have uncertain targets and the consequence low validity of evaluation.
