Crack width on the surfaces of concrete girders is increased by partial drying shrinkage near the surfaces after initial cracking. And, reinforcement stress, that is the main factor of bending crack width, is varied by the influence of drying shrinkage and creep. We examined the practical method of the estimation of reinforcement stress in disregard of concrete tensile stress, and the partial dying shrinkage near the surfaces through the results of experiments by RC beams under drying circumstances, and of measurements of crack width, spacing and reinforcement stress on real concrete girders. This paper reports the practical method of calculation of the bending crack width on the surfaces of concrete girders.

The paper firstly presents analytical method of the three dimensional stress problem regarding pavement material confined in such as CBR cylinder by means of the finite Fourier-Hankel transforms. Then, applying the above for the cases of the three different boundary conditions at the inner surface of mold, the stress distributions and the surface displacements were computed. The comparision of the computed values with the test results so far carried on assures that the above method is effective to determine the mechanical properties of pavement material.

Shear resisting behavior of concrete beams reinforced with FRP rods was analytically studied by non-linear finite element method. It was found that the analyzed results can estimate experimental results with reasonable accuracy. Shear force components carried by uncracked concrete zone and by shear cracked zone were calculated. It was qualitatively clarified how Young's modulus of tensile and shear reinforcement and their yield strengths influence the ultimate shear capacity of beams as well as the shear force components.

In this paper, the authors mainly describe a method inferring void structure and the functions of the drainage asphalt pavement, analyzing sound absorption spectrum using the standing wave method. The void content and the tortuosity are estimated from the peak sound absorption coefficient and the peak sound absorption frequency. In addition, the permeability is presumed from the shape of sound absorption spectrum.

In this study, we investigated the characteristics of the RCD concrete such as The VC value, compressive strength and density in varying the mixing ratio of lime stone powder, silica stone powder, and deposited silt powder. We obtained the most efficient mixing ratio of each stone powder, in which the VC value was proper, and the compressive strength and density was highest.

The design format proposed by the subcommittee for durable concrete design of JSCE Concrete Committee is expected to obtaining durable concrete structures. According to the design format, it is to be performed by making the point sum for durability indeces greater than the point for enviromental index. However, the points assigned to technologies like concrete materials or concrete and reinforcement works, for example, seem to having no rational reason. Therefore, reliability based partial safety factor design format in which points are considered to be random variables is introduced, alternatively, to investigate the usefulness of the format.
