In order to evaluate the transport policies and the effect of improvement of infrastructure, an intercity modal split model has been developed that takes into account the commodity price and distribution lot size explicitly. In estimating this model, we use the Japan freight net flow data conducted by the Ministry of Transport in 1985.
Through the modeling process, we have been able to establish the conception of the model and realize the basic characteristics.

The aim of this paper is to make clear a method of determining the geometric damping constant (n) and the internal damping constant (α) incorporated in an equation to forecast railway vibration on surface lines, based on a definition of the theory of vibration transmission. An analysis is made of the damping tendency of the measured data pertaining to the vibration levels to be used in the analysis, followed by the selection of vibration level datum points. It is suggested that on the basis of the results of this, the damping constants be obtained by calculating backwards by the reiterative method, using the measured data. The paper also sets a relationship between the damping constants and geological features.

Freight transportation generates external diseconomies, such as traffic congestion and air pollution. Logistics centers interconnected with expressways could contribute to alleviating these problems. This study aims to develop analytical models and simulation models in order to optimize the number of berths in a truck terminal, which is constructed in logistics centers. At first we determine the arrival and service-time distributions of trucks in a truck terminal. Then the models are built up based on queuing theory. We apply them to the berth-planning in an existing truck terminal, and finally the effects of various factors on the number of berths are examined by using the models.

The need for on-road parking facilities is shown based on characteristics of general on-road stopping and standing, including characteristics of illegal such stopping and standing, and of the case of using off-road parking facilities. Discriminant modeling was done by discriminating the case of using on-road parking facilities from other general on-road stopping and standing cases. As methods for this discrimination, multidimensional scaling methods II and linear discriminant functions were used. Then study shows that the surveyed items, including the purposes of parking, parking duration and types of vehicles, are appropriate and that the models are sufficiently applicable for practical use.

This paper proposed A Route and Destination Guidance System for The Visually Handicapped. This system consists of low power transmitters and portable radios which are available on the market.
We tested the visually handicapped on roads. The results of the tests indicated that visually handicapped could be classified into three levels using the HAYASHI III. They were able to arrive at the destination using Guidance System.
We showed that this system contributes to the improvement of walking for the visually handicapped and the elderly.

Many measurements for the assessments of environmental impacts have been undertaking, since the Tokyo metroporitan regulation on the E. I. S. was enacted at the year 1980. This report analizes the 19 enviromental impact statements on city planning roads in the area of Tokyo metroporitan government, that were published from the year 1980 to 1992. The comparative analyses of the next items are made; (1) the regional enviroment before constructions, (2) the factors generally to be forecasted and assessed, and (3) the measures taken for the environmental integrities. Moreover, it is considered the rerationship between the project scale and the period of formalities.

The purpose of this note is to predict parking time length of downtown shoppers on holidays as a function of purchase amount. The time decision model of temporally unconstrained one-day travel was proposed previously. This note defines degree of commercial fascination by purchase amount, for the purpose of expressing difference of staying time by purchase amount. It was revealed that the attractieness expressed the relation between amount of purchase and the staying time.
