This study aims to clarify proper information provision methods for residents with different decision-making process in a river disaster situation. A protocol survey was conducted on the decision-making of 22 subjects (7036 actions) in terms of behavior and evacuation using images of flooding. The analysis results showed that the thought patterns of the subjects could be divided into three types : recollectors, envisioners, and composites. It was investigated effective methods of information (not only the evacuation order, inundation and river flooding conditions, but evacuation sites and routes, relating to their families and house) provision that are based on thought patterns. Prior awareness of the river disaster risk perception suggested to influence thought patterns.
