This article deals with the general aspects of recent techniques and practices on differential flotation for complex polymetallic sulphide ores of which main constituents are Cu, Pb, Zn and Fe, and involves the following contents,
(1) Difficulties in separation of the ores by flotation are due to considerable or in certain cases extreme fineness of mineralogical texture, difficulty in liberation of the individual minerals, their varied mineral composition, their tendency to oxidize easily and difficulty in maintaining uniformity in their qualities when they are fed to concentrators.
(2) The author explains briefly the fundamental techniques and processes which are actually in practice for separating each mineral by flotation, from which he has prepared a number of basic flowsheets which could be employed in the separation of the ores.
(3) He gives as examples several flowsheets and metallurgical results of noted mills in Japan concentrating complex sulphide ores.
