A. study of testing the strength of sand slime filling, which undergoes changes owing to its size and moisture content, was performed in using the methods of shearing, consolidating and, loading tests in our laboratory and also the loading tests only at Hitachi Mine.
Under a condition where the slime contents less than a certain amount of moisture, the finer grains of sand slime resists more against shearing and carries more loading. Under the contrary condition these relations are shown adveresly.
Experimenting the sand slime on the loading platform with 17.5cm diameter, the filling remalins stable, provided that the settling depth of the platform indicates less than 10cm under 5.2kg/cm2 loading.
