Analyzing the structure of software development project success and failure is one of the effective ways to get an objective estimation of the project quality. In this paper, the questionnaires to the project managers about the quantitative project evaluation on QCD (Quality, Cost and Delivery) & CS (Customer Satisfaction) and about the project management skills were performed to consider the structure of software development project success and failure. The both of data were analyzed with the principal component analysis and these derived the interesting results, i,e., 1) the quantitative data analysis of QCD & CS derived the effective model for the classification of the success case and failure case of the software development project, 2) the analysis on the data of the project management skills clarified the necessity of the systematical approach to the project management and the importance of the well-balanced performance in each process level of project.

In this paper, we discuss two kinds of optimal software testing-effort allocation problems for highly quality software development by taking software cost factors and each module quality into consideration. These problems are based on an optimal software release problem, and can be solved by a method of nonlinear programming. The underlying software reliability model describing the fault-detection phenomenon during module testing is a testing-effort dependent software reliability growth model.

The purpose of this research is to develop a methodology for the quantitative evaluation of flexibility of an FMS. The value of flexibility can be defined that it becomes large when the changeable range of factors which affect the performance of manufacturing system shows large value. Four kinds of factor were used for the analysis, that is, arrival time duration of parts, machining time, ratio of part mix and standard deviation of machining time. The integrated flexibility was indicated on a 3 dimensional coordinate, and the value of each axis was calculated from the output data of SIMAN simulation. The main findings of the research are as follows; (1)The methodology was proposed to express the integrated flexibility quantitatively on the 3 dimensional coordinate. (2)The meanings of each axis of the 3 dimensional coordinate were defined by using the results of SIMAN simulation. (3)The quantitative values of flexibility of 4 types of manufacturing system model were calculated by utilizing the developed methodology.

Software reliability is one of the most important characteristics of software quality. Its measurement and management technologies during the software life-cycle are essential to produce and maintain quality/reliable software systems. In this paper, we discuss the relationship between human factors and software errors which cause software failures, and software reliability modeling. Two categories in software reliability modeling are discussed : static and dynamic models. In particular, the latter is called a software reliability growth model. As to software reliability growth modeling, hazard rate and NHPP models are investigated for quantitative software reliability assessment.
