The management of technology development has been complicated with the changing market needs for industrial products. In manufacturing industry, the technology development project will be organized as market strategy project, and also these projects will be organized as collaborate project with another departments or another organization. As social demand increases to the technology transfer from a university, the needs of a university researcher and a company to TLO are also diversified. Although the role of TLO is producing an intellectual creation cycle based on the patent of a researcher, it is necessary to concentrate neither on patent application, nor its management shortsighted, but to aim at target achievement as a member of 'The Industrialization Project of Technology Seeds' centering on the researcher who is also a client of TLO. This paper introduces about the measure of technology transfer centering on TLO, and considers the validity of the technique of project management based on the example of Osaka University which succeeded in technology transfer in the form of establishment of a university venture.

As the semi-conductor device process has recently been drastically changed, the requirements on the device manufacturing tools have also changed. Although only the best data of unit process was required so far, the module solution and/or total solution using e-manufacturing are now required. It is herein reported that the method of the project management was applied in the development of the manufacturing tools for damascene process such as electro plating, CMP, cleaning and those total design.

Various methods on project management have been applied for R&D projects in manufacturing companies. However, a lot of problems appears due to uncertainty of R&D, thus it is required systematic project management. R&D activity requires two steps process of R&D for basic technology as 1st step, and then proceed to R&D for products, because R&D result have to be applied for product development. In the R&D of basic technology, the most important process is selection of R&D subjects at project starting stage. R&D subject's decision process is described in the paper as heat dissipation technology for small electronics devices.

This study focuses on"technology roadmaps" which are developed and used in various high-tech areas such as semiconductor, telecommunications and new materials. In those areas where the rate of technological change is very large and complicated mixture of technologies is indispensable for creating new products, needs for technology roadmaps are recently growing with a view to prioritize and establish appropriate directions of R&D investments. In this study, we illustrate the usefulness and the future directions of Japan's technology roadmaps based on comparative analysis between the US and Japan.

Software development occupies most by man's idea in the production process. It is impossible to stop generating of a bug. Although a guarantee of quality of software is a subject with important establishment of the design quality in upstream software development, it needs to be managed for guaranteeing the quality continued also in downstream development. In our company, the digital quality control which predicts and manages the total amount of the final bug generated in downstream development is promoted based on the extraction actual result of the bug in the past software development. In this report, it introduces about one example of the project which applied the digital quality control.
