Although the indiscriminate increase in the number of companies which apply EC (Electronic Commerce) has settled down, the amount of investment in each has been increasing. EC has established important positioning as mainstay systems of companies, and the leading role of that is strongly expected in the ubiquitous computing generation. The estimation for the software development project has been told difficult. The difficulty of the estimation has been increasing not only by the needs of estimation with ambiguous software requirements but also by the appearance of new environment for the software development such as e-Projects. The feasibility of the project is depended on accuracy of the estimation for the software development, however it is still strongly governed by the unspecified individual's skills. In this report, in order to exclude the ambiguousness and improve the rationality/objectivity/reasonability of the estimation for the software development, we analyze the estimation activities and examine them in the light of management and engineering.

The recent changes in business environment - like it is most often quoted "Dog Year" - is increasing its speed remarkably. And application development is also one being pressured in many ways for "faster" development. In order to fulfill the business' need, IBM provides RAC(Rapid Application Center), solution to speed up application development, as part of the application development and maintenance service. The application development by RAC, mainly uses the technology and method of RAD(Rapid Application Development), but it's core method is one referred to as "Time-boxing." Also to note is that in RAC, Scope Management, especially Requirement Scope Management, is emphasized as major Project Management areas for the success of "Time-boxing." In this report, I would like to discuss Requirement Scope Management in RAC using actual cases of RAC.

On an EC (Electric Commerce) site developing project, the term of project is usually short (few week to few months). As well as the reduction of costs and workloads - such as using knowledge and packaged software, appropriate organization development that involves assignment of required skills on required term is important. And communication planning between stakeholders such as web contents designer must be considered in organizational plan, because design changes may occur from them.

In this paper, an approach is proposed to clarify theoretical grounds that Software Process Improvement (SPI) activities solves IT project problem. Therefore, the failure mechanism and the improvement mechanism of the if project were modeled. A certain system integrator's 17 actual if projects were investigated based on the model, and the project data was collected and analyzed. As a result, four IT project failure patterns and ten hazardous were clarified.
