An anaerobic wastewater treatment process has been applied mainly to the wastewater of high TOD (Total Oxygen Demand) strength but with less suspended solids.
This study examined the property of treatabililty of the artificial wasterwater compounded with wheat starch (TOD 20000mg/l, SS 15000mg/l) under mono-phase fixed-bed anaerobic digestion.
The test result showed dependency of TOD removal and gas generation on TOD volumetric loading. Namely, TOD removal maintained 90 to 95% as long as TOD load was within 7kg/m3·d. Most solids were digested to methane gas at the rate of 0.33Nm3/kg TOD removed, decreasing the SS concentration in outfall from the reactor to less than 1000mg/l.
Thus the study proved the possibility of diversified application of anaerobic process to the wastewater with high organic suspended solids from economical viewpoint.

In the new developing the area of river traces, it is necessary to assess the impact of particulate substance emissions for the environmental surroundigs by the digging and the carrying sand, soil and gravel.
In this study, the qualitative and quantitative properties of particulate substances by the works were investigated. Namely, in order to evaluate the quantitative standard unit of the generating particulate substances by such works as the digging by the bulldozer and the power shovel, and as the carrying by the dump truck, the appropriate unit of the generating quantity was evaluated by way of the measurement of the pariticulate substances concentration and the meteorogical observation at the site where the same digging works performanced.
As a result, it is obtained as follows. The emission factors of particulate substances by the dump truck carrying the Jigged sand were about 0.44g /one-truck/m (g/1T/m: generating from the 1 m traveling of one dump truck) from 5.4μm to 10.9μm in the range of particulate diameter, about 0.37g /1T/m in 1.6-5.4μm, about 1.3 g /1T/m in 0.7-1.6μm and about 1.3g/1T/m below 0.7μm. And that by the bulldozer loading it were about 1.0 g /one-bulldozer·one-process (g/1B/1P) from 5.4μm to 10.9μm in the range of particulate diameter, about 0.8 g/1B/1P in 1.6-5.4μm, about 2.4 g/1B/1Pin 0.7-1.6μm and about 5.0 g/1B/1P below 0.7μm.
