In some parts of Asia, health damage has been reported due to using groundwater containing arsenic as drinking water. On the contrary, arsenic at a concentration exceeding the environmental standard value is detected in drilling work in Japan. Therefore, in this study, a bead-type adsorbent in which zirconyl hydroxide slurry was immobilized in calcium alginate was synthesized for the purpose of improving the handling property of arsenic adsorption. The performance of this adsorbent was evaluated under various conditions such as temperature, pH, and coexisting ions.
