The behaviors of NO
2 and NH
3 in NO
2-NH
3-N
2 mixture under the UV irradiation were studied at room temperature. NO
2 decomposed to NO and O
2 under a high pressure mercury lamp irradiation. NO formed reacted with NH
2 formed by the photo-decomposition of NH
3 to give N
2 and H
2O. A part of NO
2 reacted with NH
3 to form NH
4NO
3 and N
2. The amount of N
2O formed was equal to 5% of NH
3 decomposed and was two times larger than that in NO-NH
3-N
2 mixture. Both of the decomposition rates of NO
2 and NH
3 larger a little than those in NH
3-N
2 and NO
2 N
2 systems because of the NO
2 with NH
3.
While, under a low pressure mercury lamp irradiation, the decomposition rates of NO
x and NH
3 were seven times larger than those in NO
2-N
2 and NH
3-N
2 mixture, and the decomposition rate of NO
x under a low pressure mercury lamp irradiation was more than ten times larger than that under a high pressure mercury lamp irradiation. The rate of NO
2 was three times larger than that in NO
2-N
2 mixture. The amount of N
2O formed was eight times larger than that in NO-NH
3-N
2 mixture and seven times larger than that under a high pressure mercury lamp. irradiation.
