In the previous paper, the authors proposed the new evaluation method applying AHP and theoretically compared its characteristics with those of the former methods. In this paper, the three methods (empirical, PCA, AHP) are applied to District Suitability Classification for Urban Landuse. The study area is Chino City in Nagano Prefecture. Each methods are substantiatively compared in respects of both weight coefficients of the evaluation functions and evaluation values calculated by the functions. Results are as follows.
The inconsistency, which appeared in the weigt coefficients estimated by the PCA method, was not found in case of both the empirical method and the AHP method. The evaluation values were checked by supervisory judgements and it was found that the AHP method could construct more accurate function than the empirical method. Based on the above results, we conclude that the AHP method is superior to the former methods (empirical and PCA) if the scale values are adjusted in an appropriate way.
