A method for obtaining frequency response from step response data by approximating them with parabolic segments along three sampled data is described and the equations for the calculating error by discrete Fourier transform are introduced. This method (method 2) is compared with a method by means of straight line segments approximation (method 1). In the case of the first order system the method 1 gives slightly better approximation than the method 2, and in the case of the second order oscillatory system the method 2 shows to fit better than the method 1.

In the case of the use of fluid transmission lines in automatic control accurate knowledge of their dynamic responses is required. Studies on the dynamics of fluid transmission lines have been reported by many researchers. In this paper the theoretical solutions from these reports are classified into three groups and introduced, and these solutions are compared with each other.

The lubricity of the transferred molybdenum disulphide layer has been studied in the ultra high vacuum friction tester. The dry molybdenum disulphide powder was burnished onto copper surfaces and molybdenum surfaces under controlled conditions of load at the room temperature. The following facts have been confirmed through the observations. 1) It was deduced that the life of the film was decided by the behaviour of the microscopic fracture near the surfaces, i. e., by the fracture behaviour of molybdenum disulphide cristallite when copper specimens were used, and contrary by the fracture behaviour of metal molybdenum near the surface when molybdenum specimens were used. 2) Though the transferred molybdenum disulphide film was the same, the wear resistance was variable in accordance with the base metals. 3) Even if the base metals were made of hard material, the molybdenum disulphide film had not a long life-time.

In-plane elastic properties of symmetric laminate were studied before. In particular, symmetric laminate in which elastic axes of identical layer sheets were made equiangular were proved to be in-plane isotropic. This paper shows Young's modulus of 3 ply and 4 ply laminated fiber reinforced plastics. From these result, Young's modulus of the laminated plate become not circular but star-shaped.

The technique of epitaxial growth from solution has been applied to CdTe. Initial experiments were carried out to determine the solvent which gave the epitaxial growth. Te, In, Sn, Ga, Sb, and Bi were used as the solvents. When used Bi and Sb, the grown layer became epitaxial and single crystalline. p-n Junction was made p type Au or P doped grown layer on n type In doped wafer. The layer was typically 10 μ thick.

The treatment and disposal of sludges being one of wastes present a social problem in many localities. The authors conducted an experiment on solidification of sludges with Portland cement. The sludges were collected at Shibaura, Odai, Sunamachi and Ukima sewage treatment facilities, and Tokyo Bay in Tokyo. As the results of the experiment, this paper described the relation between compresive strength of solid matrices and mixes of varying proportion of sludge, Portland cement, and water.

An apparatus of a pulsed nitrogen-gas laser was constructed in the form of a coaxial transmission line. With this apparatus, laser pulses of 10-nsec duration have been produced at room temperature. The strongest line has been observed at 3371 Å.

The present study was undertaken for the purpose of clarifying the difference of value between the right limb the take off and the left limb the take off in the Hop Step Jump. The subjects were 120 technical college students aged 16, they were all healthy ordinary males. The results of the measurment were as follows; 1. Difference of the value between the right limb the take off and the left limb the take off in the Hop Step Jump was smaller than that of the Running Broad Jump. 2. The pass curve of the knee joint and the ankle joint of the swing up leg on Hop, natural swing up limb was longer than that of the other side limb. 3. The natural arm action is reflex and parallels the action of the legs, this movement being similar to actual walking. And arm movements are synchronized with the movements of the legs in natural jumping style. 4. Reliable correlation was found between the Hop Step Jump record and the 50 meter Dash, the Running Broad Jump record. And it was assumed that the Hop Step Jump record was closely related to the coordination in the total physical fitness.

As grammar is systematic rules governing the use of language, it tends to take much notice of the objective phases of language. Language, however, is alive and has various subjective phases which can not be definitely explained. We have tried to find some common rules in such subjective expressions. As an introduction, we have pointed out some problems of subjective expressions which are difficult to explain. Chapter I treats of the use of the past perfect form with special reference to its subjectiveness. When we consider the use of the past perfect, the most important is the distinction between the primary and the secondary functions. The former, the sequence of time in the past, is applicable to all the past perfect forms. The letter concerns the meaning of a past perfect form, that is, completion, continuance and experience. We have remarked that the past perfect is sometimes used where the past would do just as well and we have considered the difference in meaning between the simple past and the past perfect. The reason why the past perfect sometimes expresses subjective color is that the viewpoint of the speaker is considered as being at a point in the past and he recollects the fact from that point. The indirectness of the past perfect causes a sentence to have various kinds of subjective coloring. In the process of considering the use and meaning of the past perfect, we have also dealt with the relation between the aspects of verbs and the past perfect.

Buddhism is said to be an irrational thought. Is there any way to understand rationally such a thought as Buddhism ? It may be said that science and Buddhism cannot understand each other unless the letter can be rationally understood. How should we try to proceed it in order to get a rational understanding of Buddhism ? Buddhism, with its final cause of nirvana making human being free from agonies (duhkha), is not only a thought of the salvation but a thought under the view of the value by sensibilities, a kind of subjectiv feeling aiming at being freed from agonies. I think, therefore, it may be called a kind of pragmatic lines of thought. In this paper I tried only to make this pragmatic thought a little clear.
