A hydraulic jump was investigated, which occurs when the water fallen through an orifice in the bottom of a tank strikes a point on a horizontal plane and diffuses therefrom in all directions. This report describes the results of theoretical analyses of the relation between the flow-rate or the falling distance and the radius of the circle appearing in the hydraulic jump, concluding that the theoretical results are in pretty good agreement with the experimental ones.

A study was made on the shape of the nappe, or sheet of falling liquid, as well as the streamlines of the water flowing in an open channel and passing over a sharp-crested weir. It was found that the coincidence between the theoretical value and the experimental results was not so poor.

This paper presents a study on the root stresses of spur gear, which has hole at the bottom land. Using 3-dimensional finite element method (FEM), stresses of the spur gear were analysed. The influence of hole at the bottom land and the tangential stresses were examined.

The array antennas with cosecant beam are used for radar antenna and broadcasting antenna. For the pattern synthesis of this antenna, a new design method is proposed in this report. The conventional sampling method and the linear programming(LP) are applied in this method. First, the sources are designed by the sampling method, and using the obtained phases, the optimum amplitudes are obtained by LP. Next, the amplitudes and phases are corrected together by LP, and the correction is repeated. The local optimum is obtained by this three procedures. The obtained phases are local optimum, though the ones by the conventional method are not. For example, we synthesized the sharp cut-off pattern for broadcasting array antenna with 10 elements, and Chebyshev patterns were obtained.

A laser induced computer-aided fluorometer system is presented, which permits monitoring of the chlorophyll fluorescence induction kinetics at different wavelengths (488.2nm〜817.1nm regions) excited by a cw Ar laser (488nm, 514.5nm, 50mw). Since the newly developed measuring system has a diode arrayed rapid scanning spectroscopy [DARSS] detector with a image-intensifier, then we can detect time-resolved fluorescence spectcra of in vivo leaves of rice plants. The basic relationship between the vitality index (R value) and the chlorophyll content of rice leaf (GM value) in in vivo states has been detected. It is found that the R value is proportional to the GM value before the manuring additional fertilizer, although the ratioR/GM begins to change after manuring additional fertilizer. The R values relating to the position of leaves are also detected, when the position becomes lower, then the R value increases. Other results of measurments and features of DARSS system are given in detail.

Aquestionnarie has been to forth-year students in this college and those who play judo at an ordinary time. Its aim is to clear what students imagine in regard to playing Judo. The results are as follows. There is no great change of the image for judo only so far as judo as a compulsory subject. The image for judo of those who only play judo as a compulsory subject is different from that of those who play judo at an ordinary time.

On 160 male students aged 16-17, their concern and interest on their health condition, physical fitness and their opinion about the effect of physical exercise on the health or their serf-evaluation on their own health condition and physical fitness were investigated by the questionnaire method. According to their self-evaluation of health condition, 12.5% of the students considered their own health condition to be "poor". And as to the level of their physical fitness, 34.4% of the students rated their own physical fitness "low" range. As criteria of evaluating health condition, "weakness" "vitality" and "recovery from fatique" were chosen more frequently. "Tolerable to long lasting physical exercise," "recovery from fatique" and "easy to be fatiqued" were considered as the criteria for the level of physical fitness. "Take adequate sleep," "adequate physical exercise" were most frequently listed as their conscious effort for the promotion of their health and physical fitness. "Regularity of living" was listed by 50% of the students as the effort they wish to include in the future. More than 97% of the students recognized the need of physical exercise. "To gain high level physical fitness," "to be relaxed physically and mentally" were most frequently chosen as the expected outcome of such exercise. As the reasons for not being able to take up more exercise, "lack of time" and "fatique" were pointed out most frequently.
