The author had used grammar translation method in teaching English in lower grades at NIT, Kisarazu College for about 30 years. But the situation of students in class has changed dramatically in recent years. For example, quite a few students begin to fall asleep in class if they are not warned. Therefore, the author attempted to introduce active-learning-based instruction to make the class active and to improve teaching efficiency. As a result, students study English much harder and much more now. In this paper, based on the results of the students' questionnaire and from the viewpoint of the teacher (the author), the effectiveness of the active-learningbased instruction is explained. It may be difficult for us to change the way of teaching, but we need to keep on improving it.

It's been over thirty years since we set the divided group life system into the dorm. During this period, as the Information Technology develops, many things have changed and sometimes students do undesirable actions that are beyond our imagination. To capture the situations in the dorm, we conducted a questionnaire survey on their daily life. This paper shows the following things: how they spend their daily life, how they build their connections with other students, what they think about facilities of the dorm and so on.

Memorial service of Hatta Yoichi is held every year in Usanto dam on May 8 of the anniversary of a death of Hatta since 1943. The sponsor is Chianan Irrigation Association. This organization is in charge of the dam and the supply of water facilities in the local area. In this year it was held a lot of attendants including Mayor of Tainan and Mayor of Kanazawa, grandson of Yoichi, Mr. Hatta Shunichi and Hatta family. This indicates Taiwanese great gratitude to him. People feeling to him in Taiwan is consistent after the World War II. After the War, Japan was being blamed severely in Taiwan. It was difficult to praise a Japanese in an official occasion. Nevertheless Hatta Yoichi was an exception. Usanto dam concerned expressed respect about him to Japanese who visited this place from 1950's. Now Taiwanese likes him across a political party.

The authors moderated the organized sessions on active learning at the National Forum for Colleges of Technology in 2017, 2018 and 2019. We had guest speakers who are practicing active learning, exchanged information in a world cafe style, and conducted a survey at the end of each session. In the 2019 Forum, the authors or moderators divided the time into first and second part, grouped the participants by specialty, and let them exchanged information and share the issues. From the result of questionnaire conducted at the end of the session, it was made clear that our session is useful for new or inexperienced teachers and that examples of active learning are important.

I introduced a certain method of reflection last year and showed that the method was really effective and simple. I call this "wear two hats" method, which is describing the procedure toward the solution as if they explain it to their "virtual" friend. In this paper, I add the result of this year. According to the result, we recognize that some students have enough abilities concerning general writing skills, including mathematical writing.

This paper proposes a new malware detection method for a LZ compressed packet in NIDS. In this method, NIDS first inspects a compressed packet roughly, and selects a packet that is possibility of malware, that is like screening test. Subsequently, NIDS decompresses only the selected packet and inspects it exactly. Evaluation results show that this method is not practical for original LZ compression. Hence, this paper also denotes LZ based compression method which is suitable the proposed method. Re-evaluation results show that the proposed method archives 240% speed up proportion to the existing method by sacrificing compression size. It is expected that the proposed method contributes to compression as a new option.

We proposed quartet learning with four students with the first and second grade student. The quartet tackles together problems which are made by teachers. At this time, it is expected that working with the quartet is more effective than working each student. This paper introduces a quartet learning one of the collaboration learnings. To verify the effectiveness, a questionnaire survey was conducted.

Pair-programming is a method in which two programmers are paired together and to develop software on a single PC. Pair-programming is one of the methods of software development, and it can be used to educate programmers since it has the aspect of promoting knowledge sharing between pairs. Therefore, we tried to incorporate pair-programming into the programming class. This paper introduces an example of pair-programming as a method for effective learning for beginners in programming. To verify the effectiveness, a questionnaire survey was conducted.

The image processing based on human visual characteristics is effective for the appearance of images and it is researched by many researchers. Nonaka1) created the noise reduction algorithm based on human visual characteristics that noise on the edge is difficult to see. This algorithm can remove noise while suppress the image quality degradation. And Ishihara2) revealed spatial-frequency characteristic of human visual is anisotropic using subjective evaluation.
On the other hand, some display have wide variety of display area size and pixel density. For example, a smartphone's pixel density is higher than TV's. Because a smartphone's viewing distance is short, it is sensitive to differences in image quality. Thus, the image quality is related viewing distance and pixel density.
In this research, the relationship between angular pixel density and noise perception with subjective evaluation was investigated and modeled.

The purpose of this study is to remove the disturbing areas of the scanned image. Each disturbing area is generated by superimposing the light reflected by the cover film of the photo album and increasing the brightness. In the proposed method, the disturbing areas are detected using two images scanned from different directions. The restoring of the disturbing area is performed by extracting the area from the image that is not the disturbing area and performing interpolation. It was confirmed that the proposed method is effective in detecting and restoring the disturbing area by the verification experiments.

Social skills are the behaviors, verbal and non-verbal, that we use to communicate effectively with other people. "Social Skills Training"(SST) is a type of psychotherapy that works to help people improve their social skills so that they can become socially competent. At the Consultation Office, social skills training had been conducted by the counselor for students who have received counseling since 2012. Last year, regular SST programs were conducted by off-campus experts. Therefore, we reviewed and verified the existing SST programs so that more effective SST can be implemented in the future.

Cardinal basis spline functions of second-order and third-order was clearly denoted, in order to encourage its recognition and new applications in the future. The basis function of infinite-order, which is known as the sampling function sinc(t), is used for the perfect reconstruction of the original signal from its periodically-sampled signal, based on the sampling theorem. By using the basis function of second-order or third-order as substitute for the sinc(t), we can reconstruct a continuous signal with frequently required smoothness of C1 or C2 continuity, under smaller amount of calculation. The reconstructed signals are also denoted in matrix forms of their polynomial equation, respectively.

In recent years, the public awareness of KOSEN in the industry has improved, and active recruiting companies have also increased. On the other hand, I feel that the number of negative students has increased in our college. At the beginning of the first semester, I planned to survey the attitudes and learning anxieties of our class students. Based on extract from the surveys, this paper shows recent trends of students' attitude and learning anxiety factors at the beginning of 4th grade in KOSEN.

Fish passes are structures constructed on artificial barriers that facilitate for the natural migration of diadromous fishes. In this study, we propose a simple fish passes using chains, it's called Chains Fish Passes. Chains Fish Passes arranged chains in a flow direction. We carried out interior observation experiments. We confirmed that the improvement of the going upstream efficiency of fishes in the chains fish passes.
