A low temperature burner has been designed for the purpose of phosphorus analysis. The flame emission, originating from HPO molecular band spectra, has been identified to have the same band heads and relative emission intensities as reported by Peyron. Stability and reproducibility of this burner proved to be accessible to the phosphorus microanalysis. By optimizing the mixing ratio of H
2, O
2, and N
2 in supporting gas, the background of the spectra could be reduced remarkably.
