    The effect of various conditions in making briquette electrode on quantitative spectroscopic determination of inorganic compounds such as silicates is investigated with the results summarized as follows:
    (1) From the examination of various excitation conditions with multisource unit, it is confirmed that the oscillating excitation method using C=2μF, L=50μH and R=0 ohm is the best in view of reproducibility for quantitative determination of multiple component system.
    (2) The investigations on chemical reactions caused in fusion of sample and on vaporization of fusing sample show that univalent cation of small ionic radius and strong reactivity to nonbridging oxgen is suited for fusing medium.
    (3) From the investigation on the effect of shape of briquette electrode and various conditions in making it on the ratio of fixed line pair, ratio of analytical line pair and emission line intensity, an optimum condition is determinated.

    By using ARL's 1.5 m Quantometer, analysis of trace elements in steel have been carried out with point-to-plane method.Low voltage spark discharge (C=60μF, R=-50Ω, L=360μH, V=940 V) is used for the excitation.When sample polarity is positive, working curves for Ni, Cr, Mo, Cu, Co, V, W, Sn and Ti in concentration range 0.01-0.2% and B in concentration range 0.0006-0.02 % are.obtained successfully, and these elements are determinable with a coefficient of variation of about 2-6%.When sample polarity is negative, working curves for Ta, Nb, Zr and As in concentration range 0.01-0.2% and Al in concentration range 0.003-0.1 % are obtained successfully, and these elements are determinable with a coefficient of variation of about 3-8%.

    The absorption spectrum of hemoglobin, both in solution and in suspension of erythrocytes, is investigated by Shibata's Opal Glass transmission method.
    It is proved that the Soret band of erythrocyte suspension is flattened as compared with that of hemolysate although the position of the absorption maximum is identical with that of hemolysate and Beer's law is valid for the suspension.This flattening is due to the discrete distribution of hemoglobin molecules in the suspension (statistical effect).The degree of the flattening depends on the shape, size, and optical density of individual erythrocytes, and the relation observed among these properties can be explained, in first approximation, by Duysens'theory for suspensions of spherical particles.
