Photoconductivity of refined Tin-Phthalocyanine (SnPc) was investigated by using an Al/SnPc/Indium-Tin-Oxide (ITO) cell for the applications of SnPc as a functional material. The current-voltage (
I-V) characteristic, photovoltage and photocurrent were measured. The dark current was proportional to
Vγ, where γ was 1.3. When four spectral lines (633, 612, 594 or 543 nm of He-Ne laser) were exposed to the cell through ITO, photovoltage and photocurrent were proportional to the power of the lights. The wavelength dependence of these photo-effects was in good accordance with the absorption spectrum of SnPc. SnPc behaves as a P-type semiconductor.
After the cell was exposed to air, the dark current was decreased and the
I-V char-acteristic showed a rectifying action. Under the light illumination, photovoltage was increased, but photocurrent was decreased.
