Optimal conditions of a 543nm He-Ne laser that is a useful light source as the wavelength standard are investigated for a gas mixture ratio, total gas filling pressure and excitation current. It is also studied experimentally for the transverse magnetic field for the suppression of a mode hopping. In the experiments, the tuning range of 880MHz was demonstrated a stable oscillation at the product pd of 3×10
2mmPa, p is the total gas filling pressure and d corresponds to the capillary diameter of the laser tube.
