    Capillary resistence (CR) was measured to investigate one of the skin functions of leprosy patients. CR was generally decreased, and as was very labile, it was apt to deviate from the physical functional range by single stimulation.
    1) CR of the whole skin was, as Yokozeki reported, higher in the peripheries. It was lower in the flexular surface than in the extensor and in the upper than in the lower legs.
    2) CR of leprosy patients in the subclavicular region was stronger than that of the normal. It was easily influenced by the time and the day.
    3) By Erythema nodosum manifestation, CR decreased and was the lowest at the acme of the condition. In the fading stadium it was recovering after a temporary increase. By neuralgia CR increased.
    4) Administration of hormons and autonomic nervous toxins produced in leprosy patients some different reactions from the normal people.

    Comparative studies of HSR were carried out between hyaluronidase and that added with trypan blue, applying to the normal, venous dermatoses, leprosy and other diseases.
    1) In the normal and dermatoses trypan blue-HSR and HSR showed a similar tendency and the average values were the same. The reactional areas of HSR alone were larger than that of trypanblue HSR.
    2) Sexual differences of HSR was observed (male>female). It was also influenced by the kinds and conditions of the diseases. Namely, in the acute diseases HSR increased. In leprosy HSR was specifically negative in 13.3% of lepromatous, in 6.1% of neural and 21.4% of macular leprosy.
    3) HSR in the urological diseases was similar to that of the normal, while it was decreased in anuria, cancer and diabetes
    4) In dermatological patients, there was observed no direct connection between HSR and the decrease of eosinophile leucocytes.

    1) I employed Promin, mixed with Strychinine Nitrate, and examined the absorption of this drug through the skin by means of estimation of the dead time of mice. According to the results of the experiments Promin is the superior drug as an ointment.
    2) I examined the absorption of Promin through the skin of rabbits, Promin in urine showed the highest excretion at the 6th hour.
    I compared Promin which is used through the skin and that used by intraveneous injection; the result reveals that the former showed 1.3-6.1% of the latter in urine concentration.
    3) Further I examined the influence of Promin, through the skin of rabbits, on the quantity of Ca in blood and urine, and Fe in blood. I recognized that the quantity of them increased slightly.

    1) I examined the decomposition of promin, and observed that promin did not decompose itself in an incubator (37°C), then I decomposed promin by HCl in artificial juice and Na2CO3 in artificial enteroic juice, the formerr was almost decomposed at 40 min., and the later at 60 min.
    2) I poured promin into stomach, and observed the quantity of excretion of promin in urine, which showed the highest excretion of promin at the 3rd-4th hour. In comparison with oral medication and intravenose, the former is 23-51% of latter.
    3) I examined the influence of promin given through the stomach of rabbits on the quantity of Ca in blood and urine, and Fe in blood. I recognized that the quantity of them increased slightly.

    After the intraperitoneal inoculation of murine leprosy bacillus suspension to cats and nutrias, the intraperitoneal fluid was collected, of which migrating cells, phagocytotic cells and extra- cellular acid-fast bacilli were investigated. Moreover, distribution of bacilli were examined by autopsy.
    The results of examination of susceptibility of these animals to the murine bacillus were as following.
    1) The bacilli inoculated into the intraperitoneal cavity produced no infectious finding after 2 months, though in some cases they presented a picture of multiplication in the testis. After staying 2 months in cats, the bacilli still kept infectiousness to white rats.
    2) Inoculation of the murine bacilli into the intraperitoneal cavity of nutrias produced no murine leprosy.
    3) Multiplication of bacilli in the migrating cells of intraperitoneal cavity could not be observed not only in cats and nutrias, but also in white rats.
    4) The intraperitoneal migrating cells were not different in the properties between cats or nutrias and white rats. But the migrating stadium of monocytes and neutrophile leucocytes were different in cats and nutrias and in white rats.

    The all lymph nodes and lymphoid tissues of the 15 dead leprosy patients were collected at autopsies and their 603 specimens were histologically investigated.
    The tissue reactions were devided into 4 types. 1) the change occured chiefly in reticulum and contained migrating simple large cells (large cell type), 2) foamy cells stained with Sudan III and in serious cases diffuse fatty infiltration were observed (foamy type), 3) in which, accomapnied with fatty infiltration, giant vacuoles suggestive of fatty masses and giant cells of foreign bodies were recognized (fat accumulating type) and 4) which produced necrosis (necrosed type).
    In macular and neural leprosy, findings observed were similar to those of simple lymphadenitis, while in tuberous leprosy fatty infiltration is interpreted as a chief histological change.
    Fatty infiltration is consisted by the so-called foamy cells derived from the reticulum system. In the lesions with giant vacuoles and foreign body giant cells, fatty tissue debris from the skin or the peripheral nerves are carried through the lymph stream and caught by the lymphnodes of the filter activity, the reticuloendothelial system and the foreign body giant cells with strong phagocytic ability accumulate fatty substances.
    Fatty infiltration is recognized most intense in the superficial lymph nodes, especially in the inguinal nodes, becomes weaker in the profound nodes and no sign of it in the visceral nodes. But the lymph nodes of the liver port and pylorus present fatty infiltration. In the case after erythema nodosum leprosum remarkable necrosis was observed in the liver port.
    In macular and neural leprosy no appreciable change was observed in the lymphoid tissues. Foamy cells appeared in the lymph follicles of the spleen in tuberous leprosy, but other tissues presented no change.
    The result of bacillus research by the fluorescence microscope was extremely low. In general, bacilli were recognized in a small number as brilliant granules in the cells with dull fluorescence (a kind of foamy cells).
