Recently, the environment that the aged can live healthy and independently is demanded. Some measures against such various problems as loneliness death becomes necessary. In such situation, collective houses for the aged have been given various devices to support them and to have a substantial life. However it is asked whether they are appropriate. Then, in this, study, while clarifying living condition and resident's view in the collective houses for the aged (Otofuke hureai housing, Akabira hinode haitu, and Takikawa hureai home), the passage of time change of resident's life style and of demand for living pay attention, and by comparing the present with the past, it aims at exploring the state of the future collective houses for the aged.

Most of model anti-crime condominiums in Hiroshima, Shizuoka are ones for sale in lots. But some of them in Osaka have been leased. It is unique that some lessors of condominiums in Osaka have registered their condominiums as 'model anti-crime condominiums' The registration forces lessors to put a large sum of money. Therefore, we interviewed lessors of such condominiums and asked their opinions about theirs. Most of them have been satisfied with the ability of model anti-crime condominiums, however, haven't realized the merits of the registrations. We think that to show them the merits of the registration concretely is very important.

Dynamic Asset Housing (DAH) is the concept of urban apartment house for the urban life in the sustainable and aging society with a falling birthrate. The basic type is multistoried Skeleton-Infill Housing that is flexible and durable. It can fit the change of the resident's lifestyle by changing the living space. Then the unused space can be used independently and valuably by converting it to rental housing or SOHO. DAH enables us to reside permanently and preserves the personal assets because of preparing a variety of satisfactory utilization. DAH contributes to the maintenance of local community and global environment.

This development aims to realize new infill systems for elderly residents' living. In the case of renovation, the infill systems should be assembled at low cost in a short period of time and be easily disassembled when residents do not need them any more. For this aims, Raku-Inkyo Infill System was developed The results are as follows: (1) Design and production of 'Infill Components' which are adaptable to small room. (2) An experiment involving the disassembling and withdrawal of the infill components developed in before development. (3) Evaluation of renovated space and infill components.

More than a half century has passed after the W.W.II, hospital architecture have been developed in not only quantitative phase but also qualitative. The purpose of this study is to analyze the policy of planning of the hospital architecture from the point ot genealogical point. This paper tries to classify the block plan of hospital. At first "The pavilion type" has been developed as a typical block plan. "The symmetrical and integrated type" appeared for urban situation. "The matchbox on the muffin type" has been developed for reserving spreading space for diagnostic and treatment departments and saving site area. "The independent ward type" aimed discretion of planning of D & T dept. besides the restriction of ward structure. "The multi wing type" and "the modern ward independent type" has kept the right of growth and change in hospital architecture.

In this paper, it is clear that the actual conditions of the community facilities merged with school facilities, school-community facilities complex, in Tokyo. Now, the examples of 81 school-community facilities complex was appeared. 81 existing examples of school-community facilities complex were examined from the viewpoint of flow-planning, and building type. As a result, some features and problems about architectural idea on school-community facilities complex were discovered.

Recent years, People pay attention to water environment for example revision of the River Law in 1996. Related ministries established community design guidline for crime prevention in 2003. In comparison with design guidline provided by the police or the local governments, this paper clarifies the characteristic of community design guidline for crime prevention, which shows clearly that the crime prevention effect is heightened by cooperation by persons concerned in community design, and defines a comprehensive measure and a promotion of the maintenance and management by citizens' participation.

Recently, some amendment have enabled municipalities to make original land use control with zoning regulation. Especially, minimum building lot control and highest limit district are useful in preventing from deteriorating living environment. Many measures and studies are necessary before revision of zoning to designate these land use controls. So, this thesis describes the history of revision of zoning regulation in Tokyo, the contents and the process of designation of minimum building lot control and highest limit district in 2004 revision of zoning regulation in Tokyo through interviews and questionnaires.

The purpose of the paper is to study the influence and development on regional landscape planning, after laws were established. I would like to clear up two main points in the case of Siena prefecture in Tuscany State; (1) content and decision-making of the regional planning between inside and outside of the prefecture administration, (2) a method of progressing Local Agenda21 among the local governments (communes), coordinators and citizens. The research methodology was to interview different sections of the administration like territory management, environmental policy, agriculture and forest, the communes as well.

Harbin is a famous historical city in China where the historic conservation has been implemented earlier than any other cities in China. However in order to promote the conservation further citizen participation will be essential in the near future. As the first step to promote the citizen participation in Harbin we tried a workshop to call the citizens' attention to community building with the Harbin Institute of Technology. The study has three parts: First, we will inspect the present state of citizen participation in Harbin historic conservation. Second, we will introduce the three workshop programs carried out in Harbin. Finally, we will examine possibilities and effects of workshops in the community building in China.

Because of depopolation and decline of central district in the local city, the extensive used lands have been increasing. This research aims to recommend approach that the management and the number of car parking in right adjustment. As a result of following points; 1) In order to succeed an enterprise, it turns out that a store which is in a shopping center needs to be cooperated from investigation in Yamaguchi. 2) As for management of a parking lot, it is desirable to be carried out by TMO. 3) Or the shopping center association borrows an exclusive parking lot and a monthly contract parking lot, it is the conditions of system introduction to buy and to fix as a keeping-for-a-time parking lot. 4) It is a subject how minus by about 2,400,000 yen per year is compensated as the whole system.

In order to grasp the location effects on theater facilities inside CBD (Central Business District), our study analyzes shop-around behaviors of their visitors. Firstly, we show the current situation in this area and framework of our case about Shin-Nagoya musical theater. Then we compare two questionnaire data, about both visitors of Hirokoji Street and this theater. The findings are as follows: (1) The composition of theater visitors is quite different from the one of the street visitors. (2) Although the theater visitors tend to drop in restaurant in neighborhood area before and after theatergoing, we should consider on the whole Nagoya CBD area, mainly because of their behavioral territories.

The purpose of this study is to obtain a basic knowledge for urban redevelopment considering the heat environment. Numerical simulations using the mesoscale meteorological model and the urban scale k-ε model were carried out to compare the heat environment in the urban area between the present and the Edo period. The results show that the estimated temperature under the present environmental situation is higher than that under the Edo period environmental situation caused by the artificial heat release and the urban structure.

This study approaches the problem of the rebuilding of public rented housing, by analyzing the cases accomplished and on-going in Tokyo area to clarify the future difficulties in future rebuilding. Through interviews with undertakers and examination of the documents concerned, this study analyzes the history and the general tendency of the rebuilding enterprises, as well as grasps their actual status. Forthcoming serious difficulties are clearly recognized such as how to endeavor the rebuilding of the dwellings supplied in a tremendous amount in 1970's, which building or which area to start, and if one should proceed to some amelioration work while waiting for the rebuilding to begin.

Following a series of researches (Parts 1 to 5), focusing on the residents of the community cooperative rental residence, this paper clarifies the need for living space planning to promote the interaction between residents, activities and spaces to encourage circular motion of human creativity in collective living and leisure activity beyond the bounds of the concept for conventional functional facility planning. With particular attention focused on a continuous balcony in the common space that serves as a space to form a community among the residents, this paper clarifies from the results of the survey, including the evaluation of the balcony, activities carried out on the balcony and the attitudes regarding the balcony that the relationship between the residents on the balcony enhances the value of collective living.

This paper presents the guidelines to the procedures for summing up assets and planning long-range maintenance plan using bill of quantity. Tangible fixed assets like buildings come into being as a result of the long-range business planning for capital investments, then must be planned and controlled for building life-cycle. Concerning about the life-cycle management of assets, we have to manage the following three major points, (1) To summing up assets properly at the time of the acquisition of assets. (2) To organize the long-range maintenance plan precisely from the point of view of management. (3) To distinguish between capital expenditure and repair expense and follow the procedures for asset summing up, loss on retirement and impairment.

The research mission for the study of Ancient Egypt at Waseda University has been carried out conservation works of the mud-brick structure on the summit of the Abusir-South hill, in 2003 and 2004 seasons. In this report the process of the works including the discussions concerning about a policy for the works is described in detail. The policy is not only the preservation for the structure but also an indication for people to be able to understand the original appearance. In accordance with this policy, original mud-bricks were covered with fine sand, and modern mud-bricks were piled up on it as a replica.

In the present time, the Khmer construction remains as a stone architecture. However, we can confirm evidences that a wooden building exist from evidences. It is thought tht it had been stones and wooden building existed together. Moreover, it can be confirmed to be built by using the construction technology of a wooden structure also in a stone structure which remains now. The purpose of this paper is to get know the characteristic of wooden structure that existed before, from view of traces of wooden structure which remains in ruins of Khmer monuments.

This paper refers to architectural features seen in the jointing technique of traditional timber structures in Vietnam, being based on the surveyed data of 5 examples which were finished restoring and repairing works of wood-built traditional folkhouses. Although there are various types of structural frameworks in the whole country, we have found out only three types of joints so far. One of those details has a small partial dovetail, another is much deeply cut out the top of column.

This report presents the role of manuals of architectural design systems (the Kiwari-systems) that were written at the early part of the 17th century. Those old records were handed down to the recent years by the KOBAYASHIS who were inaugurated as the DAIKU-TORYO that was the post for the authorized carpenters in SHONAI-HAN. Their descriptions are about the architectural techniques to all kinds of architectures and the architectural formalities, so they are important to study Japanese Middle Ages architectures. Among those architectural techniques, this report presents especially the kiwari-systems of the gate.

The purpose of this research is to classify the contents of "The E. T. Blacket Plans" which are kept in the archives of the State Library of NSW (Mitchell Library). The Total 4745 sheets of original materials include not only drawings of Edmund Blacket but those of his sons' office, sketches and letters. 1963 sheets of total materials became an object of this research. I made through investigation of seal and stamp of each drawings, and checked the characteristics of title logo. The following facts were found out as that result; 1. Six architects offices of Blackets have 12 types of seals. 2. 235 sheets of total 1963 drawings were stamped with the seal of Edmund Blacket's office, and 366 sheets were stamped with the seal of his sons' offices. 3. The project which Edmund Blacket dealt with to the end are only 22 of total 114 projects.

Recently in the construction industry rationalization in production systems are aimed at in order to improve the cost competitiveness. This time, we could get the chance of controlling the cost in early stages of design process. In the conventional procedure, the cost estimate is done in two stages consisting of preliminary estimate and detailed estimate later resulting in reconsideration of design in order to match with the budget. Using 3D-CAD we could do the estimate in each step of design and fit into the budget.

This report presents new development of real-time monitoring system for building data. The monitoring system will be able to reduce damage of environment and energy use in the construction sector. In this paper, a voice recognition function of the housing VR system, developed as an expansion of the man-machine interface, is reported. As voice recognition software, UNMAGIC, in which the voice recognition rate was very high, was adopted. Voice recognition and VR display were realized by 2 personal computers, when voice recognition and VR display were carried out by stand-alone personal computer, because the recognition rate tended to decline. Thus, a technique that communicated only information for operation between 2 personal computers was proposed in this paper. In addition, from evaluation experiments, the optimum operation width differed according to the transfer direction, and again, the misrecognition tended to fluctuate by property of subjects, and contents of speech sounds were obtained.

On July 26, 2003 a strong inland earthquake of M=6.4 attacked several towns in Northern Miyagi Prefecture and named as Northern Miyagi Earthquake. The same name earthquake occurred in 1962 at about 50km north of the 2003 event and showed similar damage. In this paper, damage data are collected through reconnaissance reports and newspaper articles at that time. Three and more than 200 were killed and injured due to this earthquake. The causes of human damage are traced with newspaper articles and it is reveled that the most cases were happened at outdoors and a few was injured by direct building damage.

The Northren Miyagi Earthquake 2003 occurred at inland of Miyagi Prefecture and sever damage was concentrated in several towns around the epicenter. This area had been attacked many earthquakes during recent one hundred years. The largest one is the Off Miyagi Earthquake of 1978 and reoccurrence of it is expected in near future with high probability. In this paper, literature survey on the previous earthquakes at the affected area of the Northern Miyagi Earthquake was performed and repeated damage at the same places are indicated.

After Hyogo-ken Nambu (Kobe) Earthquake, disaster medicine and preparedness of hospital are focused among relatives such as administrators or physicians. But most of discussion and research achievements tend to overlook the disaster mitigation in winter especially at cold regions in Japan. Earthquake disaster under the cryogenic environment shows that victims can be proliferated due to the freezing death and cardiopathy, cerebropathy from high blood pressure, or pneumonia. Objective of this paper is to promote emergency response swiftly among medical staffs and governors from the point of view of pervading efficacy of emergency medical service based on the research reviews and interview results considering difference of seasons. The authors surveyed medical journals and All's achievements relate to havoc. Basically, the authors questioned countermeasures, took up domestic and overseas earthquake events in order to be depict sharply deep focused on preparedness and emergency response system from reconnaissance investigation.

Disposition of existing hospitals is assessed by use of the Voronoi's diagram considering regional separation under earthquake disasters. Tomakomai city, one of the important industrial cities in Central Hokkaido Japan is chosen as a case study. According to the loss estimation of the city government, totally 398 persons will be injured due to the nearest inland earthquake. In this study, major 12 medical facilities are selected and their dispositions are assessed under the condition of 20% of them should be hospitalized. Spatial imbalance in the central part of the city is pointed out. In the cases of regional separation by railroad and wide river are assumed and their dispositions are also assessed.
