  • その1:世帯の総負荷電流から居住者による電気機器の直接操作の有無を推定する方法

    In order to develop a watching system for an aged single person by grasping his or her usage of electricity, we hatched out a method to infer whether a resident directly operated electric appliances or not from total load current of the household. Then we developed a prototype of the watching system and carried out a demonstration test for 11 actual aged single persons for 1 year in cooperation with a local government. The results of the test are showing the effectiveness of the system. We also have hatched out a method to automatically determine proper numerical values of parameters required for watching. It is absolutely necessary for the system to watch a great number of household simultaneously.

    It is essential for a patient that condition of a disease is diagnosed by a body temperature that is one of vital information in daily life and a clinical nursing. However, with conventional clinical electrical thermometers, it is much harder to monitor body temperature change in a short time. To solve the problem with management of a body temperature monitoring, so development of continuous long-term body temperature monitoring system is essential for sensing sudden change of a body temperature, this system is able to wipe out the fear of overlooking of an emergency just in case. We have therefore proposed a new clinical electrical thermometer of a wearable neckband device model that does not restrict limbs, where a temperature probe is fixed to a neck. In this study, a most suitable measurement position in a neck surface had verified that it was right side surface central part. We compared a body temperature with our proposed neckband clinical electrical thermometer model and a conventional axillary model, and a temperature gradient of approximately 2°C was measured. Furthermore, continuous long-term body temperature monitoring with a neckband model which simulated a clinical nursing was verified. As result for, our proposed neckband model needs response time within ten minutes, but it was effective for detecting a high/low temperature change on continuous long-term body temperature monitoring.

    Nurse call is widely used as a notification system in hospital ward. Not only the call from the patient but also the warning from the bedside monitor have been incorporated into the nurse call. However, too many alarm calls make inability to cope with a call. And the risk of medical accidents is increased. In this study, we analyze and nurse call response time, the study of risk of delay corresponding to the nurse call. As a result, it was found that the trend of response time of nurse calls.

    In this study, we develop an effective noncontact technique for detecting rolling over in bed. We propose a new method for detecting rolling motion by measuring the current generated due to a change in the capacitance between a given electrode and the human body. The technique involves the detection of electrostatic induction current of the order of approximately sub-picoamperes flowing through the electrode that is placed at a distance of 1 m from a subject. A theoretical model is proposed for the electrostatic induction current generated due to a change in the electric potential of the human body. This model can be used to effectively explain the behavior of the electrostatic induction current flowing through the measurement electrode. We apply the noncontact technique to detect the timing of rolling over in bed. Thus, we could quantitatively estimate the timing of rolling over in bed under noncontact and nonattached conditions. Our technique enables easy in-situ detection of the timing of rolling over in bed.

    The fall accident in the hospital is one of the serious problems and occupies approximately 60% of the accident to occur in a hospital. In the hospital, a device to detect the fall accident from a bed is installed, but there is not the effect to reduce a fall accident. Therefore the quick estimated technique of the fall risk from a bed is required to prevent a fall accident. This paper proposes to construct the estimation model for the inpatient's fall risk based on the fuzzy reasoning and real-coded genetic algorithms by fall assessment scores and the working nurse's experiment. The effectiveness of the constructed model is assured by comparing with the nurse's experiment, and the possibility of the fall risk estimate in the hospital is suggested.

    The shape of our feet is important for our good health. If the feet are an abnormal shape, such as ‘high arch' and ‘flat foot', it may adversely affect the performance of walking and maintaining the posture, and damage our health. Therefore, we want to develop a system that allows even non-expert users to measure the shape of their feet and make a diagnosis. Our system takes the image of pressure distribution of feet as an input, and classifies it into four categories: ‘normal', ‘high arch', ‘flat foot', and ‘suspected of an abnormal shape'. We build our classifier using the Adaboost algorithm and decision tree algorithm. Our training data consists of 200 images of pressure distribution of feet that are labeled by the experts in advance. We use the pressure and area information obtained from each input image as the image features. We conduct the verification based on the cross validation on our training data. The resulting accuracy that our classifier achieves is 95.5%. The recalls of the four categories of ‘high arch', ‘normal', ‘flat foot', and ‘suspected of an abnormal shape' are 100%, 94.2%, 96.3%, and 95.8%, which are best performance compared with the previous methods.

    When the driving posture is maintained during prolonged driving, a burden concentrates on the specific part and the driving fatigue is accumulated. We propose a technique that changes the lumbar posture periodically by using the lumbar support device mounted in the driver's seat to reduce the driving fatigue increase for long distance driving. This study focused on the periodic movement of the lumbar support device, and we verified both the objective fatigue evaluation based on the finger plethysmogram and the subjective fatigue evaluation based on the result of a questionnaire survey. From the results of the objective and subjective evaluations, the operation cycle of 30 minutes which operated the lumbar support device every 15 minutes was most effectively for the reduction of the driving fatigue increase. Therefore, the effectiveness of our proposed method about the periodic operation of the lumbar support device mounted in the driver's seat for the reduction of the driver fatigue increase has been verified.

    A digital book has become popular along with the popularization of electronic medium. It is needed that assessment of not only subjective assessment about readability or usability, but also objective assessment of psychosomatic health impact. The objective of this study is an objective assessment of physiological and psychological effects of reading books using electronic or paper medium. This paper focused on hemodynamic parameters. The measurement item was VAS and POMS as a psychological index and hemodynamics parameters as a physiological index. As a result, low vigorous and unreadable were significantly recognized (p<0.05) in reading a book using an electronic medium comparing with a paper medium. Cardiovascular system became active coping because of sympathetic hyperactivity in the hemodynamic reaction. By contrast, using an electronic medium did not fit into stress coping. It was also found that parasympathetic nervous system enhanced with illegibility of the sentence and fatigue by usinig an electronic medium. For all of these results, it became identified a difference in a way to manage in physiologically with reading a book using an electronic and paper medium.

    Recently, motion/path planning methods become popular and achieve practical applications such as autonomous car. Most of studies focuses on the planning based on a given mathematical model, but the development of data-driven system identification method is also crucial for practical applications, since the precise model of a control target is not always available in advance. In this research, we propose a motion planning method where a fast Gaussian process regression is used as a model of the control target, since Gaussian process regression is a powerful non-parametric method which is widely used in various practical and complicate applications. Thanks to Bayesian property of Gaussian process regression, our method can deal with uncertainty of the prediction. We apply our method to the control problem of simple-pendulum with non-linearity and achieve the swinging up task.

    We propose a technique called the central processing unit (CPU) Load Balancing method for Semi-Symmetric Active-Active dual controller storage systems to maintain load balancing between dual controllers by migrating logical unit (LU) ownerships from one controller to another, even if there are inhomogeneous operations between controllers. We develop a performance simulator and use it to evaluate the proposed method's operation. Our findings reveal that the proposed approach improves the average response time on continuous stable load by 2% and the system throughput by 18% compared to the conventional method. The CPU Load Balancing method is a better choice especially to achieve improvements in storage operability. In addition, our findings reveal that the proposed approach improves the average response time in simulated actual loads by 27% compared to the conventional method.

    Many interpolation methods have been proposed and used for resizing images or achieving higher resolution images. In this paper, a new interpolation method is proposed. In this method, we consider a pixel value to be image energy in local region. A surface integral of pixel values is defined by a rectangle determined with image origin and a coordinates. This integration can be calculated from the pixel value of the coordinates and integrations of the nearest 3 coordinates. The proposed method is based on this definition. The distribution of the integration of pixel values inside local region are interpolated by B-spline surface with control points at the corners of the region. Therefore, image energy in local region is conserved. And, any pixel value inside the local region can be calculated by partial differentiation of the interpolate surface. Experimental results shows that precisely resized image is achieved by the proposed than by conventional methods.
