Crossmatches (saline and bromelin test), performed in our laboratory during recent two and half years, were retrospectively searched. Total 261 troubles were found in the records of 2, 835 patients and 12, 877 donors. They were classified into three categories. The first and the most frequent (157) was such troubles that autocontrol was positive, eg., warm and cold autoagglutinin (6 and 46), rouleaux formation (4) and bromelin dependent non-specific agglutinin (BDNA) (101). The BDNA was the most frepuent in all kinds of troubles (38.7%). It was important to distinguish them from other troubles, as BDNA was clinically insignificant. The importance of autocontrol and direct antiglobulin test was emphasized. The second group (59) included alloantibodies and polyagglutinability T, and the third (45) does unsolved problems. The frequency of alloantibodies was compared with the results from other institutes and our technical design of crossmatch was discussed.
