    　In the framework of linear regression analysis of Y on X , we focus on statistical phenomena that the value of the standard partial regression coefficient of X on Y exceeds one by adding an explanatory variable Z. Then, based on (1) the correlation coefficient between X and Z and (2) the angle between the simple regression model and the causal effect on the mean, we discuss “ how much the value of the regression coefficient of X on Y could be changed by adding Z.” In particular, we provide examples that (i) the value of the standard partial regression coefficient can exceed one even for a non-null but small correlation between X and Z , and (ii) the value of standard regression coefficient could be taken within the range (－∞, ∞).
