When matching two kinds of components in an assembly process, it is important to make the difference between characteristics of matched components as small as possible. The matching that minimizes the sum of absolute difference can be obtained by solving the minimum cost matching problem in the related bipartite graph. Furthermore, by selecting squared difference as the cost for a pair, we can decrease the variance of absolute difference. From the results of computer simulations in various situations, we show how the selective assembly method based on the minimum cost matching is superior to the random assembly method.

Miyakawa and Yoshida investigated the aliasing patterns between main effect and interaction and the degree of confounding for L18orthogonal array, In this article, the same investigation is carried out for L36 For the columns with three-level in L36(23×313), there are eight aliasing patterns. By deleting the last column, they reduce to only three patterns where the effect of each interaction is almost uniformly distributed in other columns. For the combinations of a column with two-level and two columns with three-level in L36(23×313) and L36(211×312), there are four aliasing patterns and the effect of each ineraction is not so uniformly distributed in other columns.
