Studies on the pooling of data have been concerned with the data taken from the normal or exponential distribution. The principal reason why we discuss here the pooling of data from the extreme-value distribution, especially the doubly exponential distribution are that :
1) In life testing the experiment is frequently censored due to economic considerations and therefore the sample size is apt to become small, and
2) The doubly exponential distribution is widely applied in the analysis of life testing.
As a practical example, the pooling of data from the breaking test of CV-cable is also illustrated. It is believed that the new proposals may be applicable to the life testing of other materials than CV-cable.
