Photocurrent of TiO
2 under irradiation UV or visible ray has been measured by the device system developed in our laboratory. Nineteen kinds of TiO
2, which were nontreated (rutile, anatase) and treated with Al
2O
3, Al
2O
3-SiO
2, Al
2O
3-SiO
2-ZnO, Al
2O
3-ZrO
2, and high density Al
2O
3-SiO
2, were used. The band gap, the quantum yield and the attenuation of photocurrent of the TiO
2 have been determined with the measurement system, and evaluated the relation to the durability of the TiO
2 coatings.
As a result, the followings were found : (1) The quantum yield value of the treated TiO
2 is lower for 1 or 2 figures than the value of nontreated TiO
2; (2) the quantum yield of TiO
2 treated with high density Al
2O
3-SiO
2 is the lowest; (3) the quantum yield is increased for TiO
2 treated with higher amount of Al
2O
3 or lower amount of SiO
2 ; (4) the photocurrent of TiO
2 has a negative effect on the durability of the TiO
2 coatings.
