Green inorganic pigments with safe character, higher tinting strength and better weathering resistance are required for the field of color materials. In this paper, we prepared composite green iron oxide particles by coating phthalocyanine blue with the assist of methyltriethoxysilane as an adhesive agent on harmless goethite core particles. TEM photographs indicated that the phthalocyanine was firmly adhered to the surface of the goethite particle with laminar shape. The degree of green coloring, tinting strength, and weathering resistance of composite iron oxide particles were improved by phthalocyanine coating.
