We analyzed Nb containing anatase-form TiO
2 on its individual particle properties and its pigment characteristics, and tried to correlate them. Individual TiO
2 particles we used had high crystallinity except for a few layers on the surface. Nb, which was impurity originated from the ore, was found to be segregated on the amorphous surface layers when its concentration was 0. 15 wt% or more. Aluminum doping into the particles before the calcination stabilized Nb inside the crystal and prevented the segregation on the surface. Al doped TiO
2 pigment was fond to improve the thermal and light stabilities of its coated films.
