The research report has been published as “Recommendations of Shotcreting (draft) composed of” Shotcreting ”for Tunnel by the NATM,” “Shotcreting for Slope Stabilization” and “Sprayed Mortar for Repair and Strengthening of Existing Structures” in the description of performance-based verification in July of 2005 by Concrete Committee of Japan Society of Civil Engineers (JSCE). While shotcrete has been frequently applied to tunnels, slope stabilization, repair and strengthening of existing structures, composition material, mixture, and application are entirely different for the three types of shotcreting. Moreover, the three types having the construction methods and examination methods are unique and different respectively. It was decided to create unified performance-based verification, focusing on the point of “Shotcreti ng” or “Spraying” based construction common for these three types, except for regular poured concrete. Furthermore, along with the these three Parts of the Recommendation for Shotcreting (draft), eleven items formulated for the Shotcrete Testing Methods of the JSCE Standards (draft) were deliberated and published.

International Standard ISO 22965 concerning to production and conformity of concrete has been prepared by Sub-committee 3, Production and Execution of Concrete Structure in ISO/TC71, Concrete, Reinforced and Prestressed Concrete from a reactivation of SC3 at 1998. The DIS voting was closed at April of 2006 and was gotten approval from almost all participating member bodies. A final DIS voting will be opened in a few months. Essential contents and a background of ISO/DIS 22965 are described. Not only an application scope of standard, three concrete classes, consistence classes and strength classes but also an evaluation system of conformity are focused on. It may be thought that the evaluation system of conformity was to be transferred to new JIS Mark system at 2005 and is explained in detail.

New retrofit method for improving the seismic performance of the low aseismic buildings, was developed. Its method is the added shear wall to a low aseismic building. The characteristics of its method were 1) using the coarse aggregate cotter and 2) using the expansive concrete of the added walls. Structural tests of the lateral loading tests on shear walls, and the direct shear tests of the joint plane with adhered aggregate cotter were carried out to investigate the proposed method. Nonlinear finite element analysis was carried out to simulate the test result for convincing its analytical accuracy. Next, non-testing parameters were analyzed to investigate the design strength. Practical method and the quality control method were defined for good performance when an earthquake.

CFRP plate is an excellent corrosion resistance material with high-strength and lightweight. Recently, this material is not only applied as tensile resistance material, but it is also applied as prestressing material, which is a newly developed technique for strengthening concrete structure. In this technique, the amount of prestress in one plate is small, but it is a suitable prestressing technique for strengthening, due to its simplicity in arrangement, and small space in the anchorage zone. The aims of this report are to confirm the safety of using this method and to examine the strengthening effect.
