    “Recommendation for Mix Design and Construction of Self-Compacting Concrete” was published by Concrete Committee of Japan Society of Civil Engineers in March 2012. It is a revised edition of “Recommendation for Self-Compacting Concrete” published in 1998. The revised edition contains “General Requirements”, “Mix-design Standards”, “Production and Construction Standards”, “Inspection Standards”, “Testing Methods” and “Material Data”.

    The present Structural Eurocodes have been stipulated and have influenced greatly on not only Japanese technical standards but also ISO codes. Due to the European harmonization process, all traditional national standards in conflict to Eurocodes have already to be withdrawn. Public clients or agencies have also replaced their own technical specifications when purchasing construction products or services after April 1st 2010. Histories, systems and contents of the present Eurocodes are described briefly at first and then some fundamental plans and concepts of Future Structural Eurocodes are described not only the four key points of Maintenance, Harmonization, Further development, and Promotion but also the Sustainability added in the Construction Products Regulation which Regulation is a highest level legislation among European Union legal systems.
