This paper describes shaking table tests. The similitude law on model used, the types of shaking table and test methods are first explained. Second, the outline of the shaking table tests conducted on small-sized multi-story and multi-bay walls is presented. Finally, the analytical methods on test results are discussed.
Actual structures are subjected to variable repeated loading, of which magnitude and rate change at random. None the less, fatigue strength and fatigue life of concrete are generally obtained under constant repeated loading fatigue tests. Therefore, the characteristic strength of concrete and the resistant design shear force in fatigue for the limit state design method should have sufficient security under the constant repeated loading and also should be one on which the security is reflected under variable repeated loading. In this paper, the method of calculating these values are explained.
The method of constructing the concrete portion of Pirika Dam is the RCD Method, which is devised with the purpose of reducing construction time and costs. Placement in the main dam will begin in June 1984. Then, the experimental concrete placement by RCD Method was carried out in October and November 1983 in order to make clear the quality and constructability of RCD concrete of Pirika Dam. This report is to introduce about it's results.
