In April 2016, JIS A 5011-2 “Slag Aggregate for Concrete-Part 2: Ferro-nickel Aggregate” and JIS A 5011-3 “Slag Aggregate for Concrete-Part 3: Copper Slag Aggregate” were revised. The revisions introduced environ mental safety and quality regulations, as well as ferro-nickel slag coarse aggregate as a new item covered by these standards. This paper deals with the mentioned revisions and gives an outline of “Recommendation for Mix design, Production and Construction Practice of Concrete with Ferro-nickel Slag Aggregate or Copper Slag Fine Aggregate” of the of Architectural Institute of Japan.
A silane-and-siloxane-based-surface penetrant with excellent early performance characteristics has been developed. It consists mainly of silane, a monomer comprised of silicon molecules, and siloxane, a polymer. This silane-andsiloxane-based surface penetrant was subjected to exposure tests for up to 15 years under various environmental conditions. The water absorption prevention effect of the silane-and-siloxane-based surface penetrant was found to last 15 years or longer, and while in coastal areas, carbonation progresses as the moisture content of concrete decreases, this penetrant is highly likely to have potential for inhibiting rebar corrosion.
