In this paper, a new method which the revised binary search decomposition method is extended to is referred to, and the algorithms for determining the sequence of test are established. By a simple example, it is clarified that the sequence of test by means of these algorithms makes the cost of test more inexpensive than both the binary search decomposition method and the revised binary search decomposition method. Therefore, the effectiveness of this method is verified. And then, in general, it becomes clear that the algorithms reduce the method having the lowest cost of test among these methods.

An approximate caluclation procedure with grouping of candidate points for decision problem of capacity and location of plants was developed, which can give ε-optimum solution. Firstly, candidate points are grouped by the index called "degree of non-resemblance", and selection of groups and construction capacity are decided. Secondly, capacity and location of plants are calculated under the constraints of the first decision. If the upper bound of difference between obtained and optimum values is greater than the prescribed one, then the procedure is iterated after increasing the number of groups. The meaning and effectiveness of the proposed procedure was shown through a numerical example.

A production plan for potting cyclamen and begonia, grown in a green-house, was disfussed. The authors studies next two cases against the shipping time of cyclamen to meet the high and low time pricewise according to situations. (1) On a decision of a culture method of begonia, in the case of given size of trining-pot for cyclamen. (2) On a decision of size of potting flower culture sample, these two alternative ones were selected and studied individually. The author derived both X_0-α_2 space and S. -α_3 space useful to select them under such circumstances.

This paper considers effective design models for two queueing systems in which the decision is the type of service mechanism; one is a parallel type, and the other is a tandem type. The criterion is customer's waiting time. To do this, we propose an estimation mathod of the mean waiting times in both systems. It is shown that the parallel system is better than the tandem system under the same number of servers. It is descussed with a case study how to reduce the wating time by introducing the tandem type into the parallel service systems.

This paper deals with the problem of designing an efficient production system for agricultural processing products, where raw materials are harvested seasonally and limited shilf-life. This model, firstly, clarifies how the decaying loss of harvested raw materials and the shortage of end-products for market demand will be affected by the dviation of harvested quantity of raw materials and market demand the correlation between each end-product for market demand, and the production planning rules. We, secondly, obtain the average stock leel of end-products under the multi-buffer capacities which can control, within their estabished limit, both the decaying loss of raw materials and the shortage of end-products.

The traditional method of quantity variance analysis of mutually sabstitutable direct materials under standard costing has simply analyzed quantity variance into mix and yield variances. This paper insists to introduce the cioncepts of net. spoilage and waste quantities, and those relationship in order to provide the foundation of more precise and refined analyses, and proposes 15-variance method which has high generality, furnishing net mix, net yield, waster rate, spoilage rate, and various kinds of joint variances. The proposed method provides possibilities to feed useful information for cost control.

Suzuka Fuji Xerox was established in 1982 to fabricate and supply parts for office automation equipment, such as copiers, facsimiles, and local area networks to Fuji Xerox. Theintroduction of a Flexible Manufacturing System makes it possible to produce small quantities and a variety of parts economically. This paper describes the development of the total production and process control system, named ADAPS. The A__-utomated <DA>___-ily P__-roduction T__-otal S__-ystem has eight main functions. Included are engineering data processing, daily detail prduction scheduling, compiling of the operation and inspection instruction sheet, control of automated warehouses, carriers and machines, NC data handling and actual manufacturing data gathering and reporting.
