MODAPTS(Modular Arrangement of Predetermined Time Standards), which is a kind of simplified PTS method, has several peculiar features for its simplification;e.g.correspondence of motion symbols and time codes, integral time codes corresponding with the segments of a human body, representation of motions only with each time codes or each unique symbols, or admitting of making new motion symbols with the national language where MODAPTS is used.In this paper these peculiar features of MODAPTS are explained. The theory of MODAPTS is discussed.Comparison of MODAPTS with other PTS methods is also discussed.

The hysteresis of sequential sampling plan is represented by the minimal lattice paths restricted by two parellel lines. The number of the minimal lattice paths is counted by the combinatorial numbers. This paper describes the calculation of operating characteristic function and average sample number of the sequential sampling plan based on the combinatorial numbers.A new design procedure of the sampling plan is also given by using the results of characteristic analysis.

This paper describes the parameter estimation method of stochastic catastrophe model based on the maximum likelihood method. This method is compared with the moment method. The appropriateness of these methods is tested and evaluated by means of a likelihood ratio test, AIC(Akaike's Information Criterion)and so on.As a result, it is confirmed that the maximum likelihood method is more effective for estimating parameters of the stochastic catastrophe model.

A number of studies on optimal replacement intervals of equipment subjected to technical progress have been reported. However, studies from a practical point of view are few.In this paper, an attempt was mede to examine the characteristics of optimal solutions as well as to propose a simple mothod for finding approximate solution for the problems in which technical improvement affects equipment acquisition cost and annual operating expenses.

The core theory has been so far discussed in relation to the broadly defined joint cost and its allocation at large. In this study, we give a concrete interpretation on the concept of core regarding common cost allocation for the divisional peformance control, and use the core theory in order to establish criteria that any cost allocation scheme should meet if it is to avoid suboptimal decisions and to be found fair by managers. Then we suggest how to specify the most acceptable scheme, using a sensory inspection method such as the paired comparison model.

The purpose of this paper is to present an approximation algorithm named"Modified LPT rule"for the scheduling problem of n jobs and m identical machines with the objective of minimizing makespan. This algorithm is based on the idea that the workloads for all the machines are ideally balanced if jobs are assigned to machines such that the workload for each machine is equal to"the total processing time / m."The worst-case performance bound for M-LPT rule is obtained and sufficient conditions for optimality are developed for the M-LPT and the LPT algorithms.

In the days led by producers, the sewing machines were produced in mass in a few variety.Nowadays, as consumers take the leadership, the tendency of production has changed to small production with various kinds to suit the individual consumer's needs. Thus, a variety of goods are increased and their life cycle becomes short.I shall explain the shift of this production system in detail taking our machining process of the frames of industrial sewing machines as an example.Especially for our typical production system FMS, I shall make clear the purpose of introduction, contents of the system, the effect of introduction, problems and working condition in detail.
