The author states the history of the company standardization and explains the meaning, features and processes of the modern company standardization to suit to the age of innovation and diversification of product and production.Then he suggests some problems of the standardization to be solved to achieve the effective production, for examples, standardization process of product design, its relation to product development and computerization, inconsistency of standardization with variation, change and creativity.At last, he proposes the establishment of"standardization engineering"as a field of industrial engineering.

In this paper, we obtain the procedure making up the distribution of sample variance from the finite population consisting of quantitative values.This procedure is adapted for several finite populations, so that we have some properties of their distributions, especially in sampling without replacement.And on the statistical inference, the precision using this procedure will help higher than using the chi-squared distribution.

This paper deals with a production planning model in which many goods are produced by using a single line.Constantly durable demands which any feasible production plan must fulfill are given for the products throughout a period considered.In such a model, the inventory cost is an important factor to estimate the efficiency of the plan.Taking Japanese business customs into account, we notice that the interest on inventory changes discretely depending on the date of payment.Our aim is to obtain a plan which minimizes the sum of the set-up cost and the above mentioned inventory cost.

This paper discusses the effects of masking noise on minimum audible pressure.As the increase of masking noise level, the difference between threshold measured by ascending sequence and that measured by descending sequence becomes larger and the perception to pure tone gets dispersive.When the loudness of pure tone is soft at the high level of masking noise, the histogram of the degree of the judgment to pure tone has bimodality.As a result, it is clarified that such a discontinuous change of the perception to pure tone can be modeled by means of the stochastic cusp catastrophe model.

Concerning job enlargement systems, the effect of operation information factor and controlling time factor were examined on the productivity and work-load of workers.The results are : (1)For work-load, steady CFF levels is taken a multiplication effect by both factors mentioned above.(2)Without the controlling time, the rate of output per standard time is effected by controlling time factor, and the operation information factor can contribute to promote self-control of workers.As a result, these two factors are significant in job-enlargement systems.

This report introduces the decision process to search for the most economical investment plan on in-plant parts distribution system at Iwatsuki Plant, Fuji Xerox Co.Ltd.An economical viewpoint is considered to be the most important element in studying the most effective way of investment.Technology of engineering economy is applied not only to evaluate investment plans which are already presented but also to search for better alternative investment plans in-plant parts distribution system.The objective for investmen includes all the facilities related to the in-plant parts distribution system such as receiving parts from vendors, assorting, and delivering them to production lines.
