The following Hypotheses on Realtor's Trade Areas are verified with actual data of the markets in Fukuoka & Kanagawa Prefectures. (1) Market is divided into one center zone and some local ones. The former covers whole market, the latters only local ones. (2) Factors forming Trade Areas are due to not only each shop but the zone where a shop exists. Development of new marketing systems by the realtors enables us to perform such a study. SPSS, a computer library of multivariate statistical method, is used for the marketing analysis.

This paper presents a statistical procedure for selecting the γ best of k biomial populations. The Sobel and Huyett's procedure which is only for the case of γ=1 is generalized to the procedure for selecting the arbitary number γ best of k binomial populations (1≦γ≦k-1). The smallest sample size n which satisfies the selection requirement is given by normal approximation. The closeness of the approximation is illustrated by numerical comparison between the value of n obtaine by normal approximation and the value of exact n.

This paper is concerned with a problem of grouping N items in stock into γgroups with a common order cycle per group so as to minimize the resulting inventory related cost. For given γ, the minimizing grouping can be obtained by partitioning the series of items placed in order of the length of optimal order cycle times. A large relative excess cost, compared with the cost for non-grouping scheme, should result for schemes involving a small number of groups, when the groups have L-shaped hD distributions among the items. However, in any cases of hD distributions, relative excess cost becomes very small for schemes involving more than three groups.

The location of the industrial R & D facility is apt to be attracted by the locations of its headquarter or its production plants. In this paper, certain concepts and properties from the theory of digraph are introduced for the description of close proximity of R & D facilities to the headquarter or plant, and industrial R & D is then examined within the context of intra-firm locational linkages. The analysis is derived from questionnaire data for machinery industries in Japan. It concludes that 'internal' locational factors are of primary importance in industrial R & D locations.

An optimal scheduling based on branch and bound method and a suboptimal scheduling based on two candidate jobs are proposed for minimizing the number of tardy jobs with ready times in one machine scheduling. The problem in this paper is a generalization of Kise's model in which the order of ready times is identical to the order of due-dates. A new labeling scheme of node numbers and a lower bound employing Moore's algorithm are proposed for branch and bound. Time complexity of the suboptimal algorithm is o(n^2). The quality of solutions by the suboptimal algorithm is investigated through the computational experience.

In this paper, to examine the intra-firm locational linkages, between a corporation's plants and its other facilities such as the headquarter and research facilities, certain concept and properties from the theory of digraph are introduced, and the plant location is discussed within the context of intra-firm linkage. It concludes that "internal" locational linkage is an important aspect of plant location.

In this paper, the effects of inputs (job (part) characteristics, the number of pallets, scheduling (dispatching) rules, and functions of machining stations) into FMS on the job flow times are examined through the computer simulation based on the experimental design, in order to increase the control efficiency of its operation system. These results show that scheduling rules give a significant effect with the increasing in the number of pallets regardless of properties of stations and the number of pallets has a marked effect when the workloads of each station are unbalanced

The present study examines the structure of the movement process from accelerating viewpoint. Experiments were carried out by the following procedure. Six right-handed male students served as the subject. Each subject performed 10 trials under each of ten combinations of five distances and two directions. The results can be summarized as follows. (1) Movement time and time composition in acceleration pattern are influenced by movement distance, (2) the greater part of movement delay occured within fourth phase in acceleration pattern, (3) these movements are made up of two basis structural components, the first submovement is distance-covering phase and the second submovement is corrective movement which is under eye-hand coordination.
