Most production cannot exactly trace demand it the case of large variations because of plant size or requirement of production smoothing. On the other hand, the constant production for the stochastic demand frequently raises the problem of overproduction or shortage. From both viewpoints, it will be rational to set the upper and lower limits on the production and trace the demand only in this range. In this paper, the optimum decision of the production limits is discussed under the condition that the demand distribution is known. The optimum produciton limits minimizing the expected cost or maximizing the expected profit are derived in two cases where the commodity worth disappears with the lapse of time and not.

The purpose of this study is to develop a new prediction method for input human errors based on pulse speed variability. From 20 experiments with 4 subjects who performed typewriting and calculating for 40 man-hours, it was found that 96% of errors that were larger than the average input-human-error-ratio plus one standard deviation and 79% of erros that were larger thant he average input-human-error-ratio plus two standard deviations had been predicted before average 7 minutes each by this new method.

In recent market, each user requires the payment by installement for the quantity of demand per period to minimize the quantity of raw material inventories. This paper deals wiht the analysis of characteristics of the total tardness time, as measure of reliance for each supply at each due date, in case of the production planning rule, Cyclical Production Sequence and Fixed Lot Size, under the above condition. Finally this paper shows the procedure which gives us the schedules making the total tardiness time zero.

To control a process, many rules have been used to judge the state of the process besides 3-sigma control limits, such as 2 points out of 3 being near control limits. Dividing "2 points out of 3 rule" into several sub-decision rules, statistical characteristics are considered, such as probabilities which decision rules may function and the average sample number before an action. It is seen that the case of 2 points diverging into upper and lower warning limits causes many false signals, though it does not accelerate the detection of a process change.

The purpose of this study is to find the optimum motion pathway of articulated industrial robots in consideration of the motion pathway of the human. A series of experiments were carried out. One experiment showed that the moving time of industrial robots was deeply concerned with the maximum moving step of industrial robots. The maximum moving step was taken as an index of the moving time. The other experiments required the industrial robots to act 4 kinds of the motion pathway; similarly straght pathway, straight pathway, semicircular pathway and the motion pathway of human. These experiments show that the motion pathway of human is also the best for the industrial robot. These results will be useful for industrial robot works.

Two experiments were carried out to seek the angle at which subjects prefer to look at a VDT screen. The first experiment seeked to determine the preferred declination of the line of sight below the Frankfurt Plane. The main finding was taht subjects sitting with their heads upright preferred an average declination of -10 deg below FP. The second experiment was to find the effects of backrest angle on the preferred viewing angle. The main finding was the overall angle of declination below the horizon when sitting upright (90 deg) was -19 deg, and was -16 deg when sitting reclined (105 deg).
