We are concerned with the matter of pseudo-random number generators which are used in Monte Carlo simulation for queueing. Uniform pseudo-random numbers are generated by the t-th order linear recurrence which is set up with a primitive polynomial modulo p. Then the sequence has a maximal period length p^t-1. For some prime p such as p^t≒10^m(m=4,…, 7;t=1,2), the maximal period sequences are investigated. Under the assumptions of poisson arrivals and exponential service times, the sequences are evaluated with the goodness of fit for exponential distribution properties of the waiting time in the system on Monte Carlo simulation.

This paper is concerned with a multidimensional scaling method for data measured with rating items which have an ordered categorical choice. We proposed a probabilistic model which represents a latent rating process as a choice of the nearest category to the rated object among the rating categories in a latent rating space. We assume that the latent rating space have a middle point, and that the categories of a rating item are arranged in the natural order in the direction of the rating item. We give a maximum likelihood estimation method of conceptual map of the rating categories and rated objects, and give a statistical test of the structure and the dimensionality of the rating space. As an example, We estimate rating spaces of brand images.

The production planning in a multi echelon production-inventory system is discussed. The demand is stochastic, and the costs of production, holding stocks and shortage are considered. Then, the optimal production plans of each period and each production process are obtained by D. P. algorithm. These optimal solutions are decided by the states of the present stock levels and of the production levels in last period, and these will be stable in long term. These are regarded as a Markov Process. We propose a method of making the optimal production plans and of calculating the expected cost by the properties of Markov Process.

With the diffusion of the Takoteimochi (Multi-Process Handling) developed by JIT(Just in Time) regarding the assembling motion for small-sized products, the hitherto-made motion in a sitting posture has changed to that either in a standing posture or in it after walking movements. An experimental study was made, regarding motion posture, and other four factors. The results suggested that for a proper height of the part bed, the respective time values necessary for sitting motion and standing motion approached to each other as the form of motion became more complicated and the distance increased and that occasionally motion efficiency for standing posture became superior to that for sitting posture.

This paper deals with a bicriterion single-stage scheduling problem to minimize the expected value and the variance of total flow-time when operational time of each job is stochastically distributed. Two efficient algorithms are proposed for generating all of the nondominated schedules. Some numerical experiments clarify that these algorithms efficiently generate the set of non-dominated solutions with high accuracy.

In this paper, we study self-rating, which has been lately included as a part of the merit rating system, and propose an analyzing model of the difference between self-rating and rating by others on the rating tendencies. Then we have tried to estimate the parameters of this difference tentatively, utilizing the rating data collected in a certain company experimentally, and examine the validity of the model.

Main goal of this research is to develop an ordering system that would be able to control both the variance of order quantity and the variance of inventory. We tried to introduce parameter G for control of both variances, based on the periodic ordering system of Vassian. We call this method the G-type periodic ordering system. We dealt with the ordering system as a discrete control system and analyzed the system by using the Z-transform. We clearly found the effect of parameter G on both the variances and obtained the numerical value of optimum control parameter.
