An optimal algorithm for a one-machine backward scheduling model with defferent due dates in proposed to minimize the actual mean flow time. The algorithm is based on a Branch and Bound method for a forward scheduling model proposed by Bianco et al. This algorithm is coded in C-language and the computational experience shows some characteristics of the algorithm through the problems with twelve through twenty jobs. A practical problem with thirty eight jobs is solved by a 16-bit microcomputer and the computational time is reported.

In Part I the optimal order interval of the fixed interval withdrawal Kanban system has been given to minimize the total operating cost. In this paper the cost function compoesed of inventory cost, order cost, and container soct for the supplier Kanban system including the inventory at the preceding station is analyzed. The optimal operation planning of the supplier Kanban is given in terms of two decision variables-the order interval and the container capacity-on the basis of field data in a factory ; the behaviours of optimal order interval and container capacity are investigated under various values of parameters.

MRP (Material Requirements Planning) lot size scheduling problem is to decide the lot sizes for all items which minimize the total setup, production and inventory costs over a planning horizon, and is one of the important subjects in MRP research. This paper presents a heuristic algorithm which leads to an approximate optimal or potimal sulution for it. The algorithm is tested on some examples which involve from small to large problems. The results of this test indicate that it always brings the effective solutions for all examples.

We tried to developt this study based on the periodic ordering systems of Vassian. The purpose of this study is to design a periodic ordering system which provides the possible procedure to regulate both the variations of order quantity and inventory level. In this study, we call this method "G type periodic ordering system." We provided the criteria function to evaluate the G type periodic ordering system. We found favorable results from the simulation study. It was made clear that regulating both variances by using parameter G was possible.

Demand seasonally exceeding production capacity can be satisfied by produciton to stock. In order to miximize gross profit of multiple-procuds production, the interaction between production/sales volumes of respective products should by considered as well as the production sequence. This study aims at dealing with these problems simultaneously, and establishing production planning method be which profit is maximized within the planning period. The paper presents a production planning method for 3 or more types of products with the same delivery time and only with regular production.

The relative annual profit that is composed of the minimal production ratio required for recovery of fixed costs and a planned production ratio has been proposed as a new economy indicator in the process capability and capacity planning based on the satisfactory standard. Although it is applicable to the situation such that a fixed capital is increasing and new products are developing, and is usable in revising plnas, it is difficult to use experienced learning for the establishment of aspiration levels. This paper is to transcendentally deduce the standards necessary to establish a reasonable relationship between relative annual profit and production ratio in which incremental profits of a producer derived from invreased production ratio are equal to price reductions of consumers, and these standard are an element to constitute aspiration levels on the relative annual profit.

On merit rating, it is ideal that all raters give the same scores to the same ratee. However, in fact, raters usually give various scores to him. In this paper, we propose two models for analyzing quantitative rating tendencies such as lenient tendency, central tendency and halo effect. These models express the rating data by raters' tendencies and ratees' powers (ability, result, attitude). Then we used it to analyze rating tendencies tentatively, utlizing the rating data collected by an opinion questionnaire. High multiple correlation coefficients were obtained in this analysis.

The recent application of the so-called high technology has lead to the rapid introduction of robots into mass-production systems. Therefore, robot education has become an important and indispensable subject for engineering students in the laboratories. This paper intends to describe how to teach and advise the students to obtain the maximum educational effectiveness for laboratory experiences through robot education. As the significance of laboratory education is for students to learn by their actual personal experiences, we assigned various robot operation to different students to prevent duplication. As a result, students became familiar with not only the robot itself but also its control programming in a practical situation.
