In business and non-business organizations, there are many decision problems where the decision markers consider multiple goal. For such problemsn, a mathematical approach called "goal programming" has been developed. In this paper, we describe the outline of goal programming and introduce some useful recent studies.

This paper considers the problems of selecting the r best of k events (1≦r<k) in a multinomial distribution. A statistical procedure for selecting the r best events in an unordered manner is proposed from the indifference zone point of view. The experimenter specified two constants δ^* and P^* where 1/(^k_r)<P^*<1. The smallest sample size is determined so that the probability of selecting the r best events is at least as large as P^* whenever the r-th largest cell-probability is at a distance not less than δ^* from the (r+1)-th largest cell-probability. Graphs are given for k=3,4,5 to assist the experimenter in designing the experiment.

This paper deals with step length, swing period and walking speed in manual load carrying under the condition of hanging with one hand and putting on shoulder. The step length, swing period and walking speed of the eight different manual load carrying under the condition of hanging wiht one hand were calculated on six healthy male students. And, the step length, swing period and walking speed of the seven different manual load carrying under the condition of putting on shoulder were calculated on five healthy male students. From these calculations, the step length has been found to be correlated closely with the weight of carrying load. The walking speed is also correlated closely with the weight of carrying load. The regressive equations of these correlations are given in this paper.

In a job shop, the job arriving intervals and job processing time fluctuate, and they can hardly be forecasted. So either idle time or backlog might occur int he shop. In this paper both distribution of hte quantity of backlog and distribution of idle time are studied by the aid of numerical calculation on a fixed interval planing system model. THe distribution of the quantity of incomming business during each period is formulated first. The distribution of the quantity of backlog and idle time in a steady state is calculated second.

Consumer makes use of a service business by purchasing "service" which are composed of many factors. This article argues that there are 35 factors of consumer's value, and that in view of consumer behavior for the service, factors and businesses have been analyzed numerically. In consequence, it presents the classification of service factors, relations both in service factors and in service business by the configuration, and some viewpoints for the future of service business.

It is important to disclose relations between design elements of production systems and workers' desireds for designing production systems which harmonize workers' desires with workshop productivities. Classifying workers into several groups of workers' desires pattern by means of statistical method for compounding principal component analysis and cluster analysis, the relationship between workers' attributes and work shop factors are analyzed, and the internal structures of each group are investigated as to clarify the influence of workers' attributes on teh designing production syntems.

Fuzzy logical systems based on possibility and necessity concepts are proposed as models of human assessments. Outputs of these fuzzy logical systems give the upper and lower bounds of evaluation values. Thus, a multivariate analysis model constructed by the conves combination of these systems is proposed to be applied to the corporate appraisal. It concludes from this application that this model would be useful for identifying human assessments.

The design process of effective work groups must be repetitively developed under some constrains and conditions through actual assessment of the objective work group. In order to establish the rational and consistent procedures in the design process, it is indispensable to provide some criteria for the design. The suggested evaluation criteria of the attributes are necessary to appraise the group's present condition and evaluate the possibility of design on the group's attributes and effects. This paper presents a way to specify the evaluation criteria of group's attributes and illustrates some criteria on the worker
