In this paper, in order to determine a standard selling price of a product at an early stage in the development and design phase, a new method is proposed on the basis of the interactive constrained simplex (ICS). The standard selling price is expressed on the basis of some weighted design parameters, and can be uniquely determined without using a number of data. The weight of parameters in the selling price expression is regarded as a sensitivity for the selling price. Further, we can effectively simulate the standard selling price by making the design parameters change.

In this paper, some periodic reordering system with plural demands from each demand point located at various areas is discussed, which can be found typically as a subsystem of the parts supply system for overseas factory and/or factory-depots material flow inventory system etc. Main features of the subjective model are summarized as follows. (1) Plural moving-average (M. A.) time series models are induced for demand models. (2) Model identification and estimation technique of orthogonal (uncorrelated) elements in each M. A. model are included. (3) For caluculating order quantity, such estimated orthogonal elements are utilized via certain linear operation. And takin notice of inventory and order variances as criteria, mathematical forms of such values are obtained and effcient policies to control trade-offs of these 2 criteria are illustrated by some examples.

A number of studies on the problem of optimal timing for replacing the present equipment with new one, subjected to technical progress, have been reported. However, from a practical view point, that problem has not been well analyzed yet. In this paper, the problem in which technical improvements affect equipment acquisition costs and annual operating expenses was discussed. An attempt was made to develop several simple estimation methods for replacement timing and to propose a practical and really simple decision rule for practical use after analyzing that problem theoretically.

Vasicek has introduced an omnibus test for normality based on Shannon's entropy. The omnibus test has high sensitivity over a wide range of alternative distributions. In this paper, we extend the test to a directional test which has higher sensitivity on a specific direction of deviation from normality. The new test is besed on Renyi's entropy of order γ which is the generalized concept of Shannon's entropy. The power of the proposed test in investigated by empirical sampling studies for some alternative distributions.

This paper proposes an optimal scheduling algorithm for minimizing the actual mean flow time, which is a new performance measure for the scheduling model under the Just-In-Time production environments. It is shown that LPT schedule is the optimal solution for the proposed measure for the case of one machine scheduling with a common due date and independent setup times. Then, an optimal algorithm for the case with dependent setup times is developed on the basis of a Branch and Bound method adopted in the active new node search procedure. Some computational experiences show the usefulness and some characteristics of the algorithm which is coded in C-language through a 16-bit microcomputer.

Recently, multiple critera decision making (MCDM) or multiple objective decision making (MODM) has been fairly well established as a practical decision making approach with limited resources, information, and cognitive ability of the decision maker. In this paper we develop a software package (MOLP-BC) using the BLP package we have already developed to solve a multiple objective linear programming (MOLP) problem interactively on a microcomputer. And we test the software package MOLP-BC by numerical examples of a MOLP problem on a microcomputer. In the MOLP-BC developed here, we adopt the data entry system designed using the BNF notation.

MRP (Material Requirements Planning) is one of the principal techniques of production management used in manufacture. In this method, capacity planning plays a significant role. If the capacity planning is insufficient, it causes many reschedulings, confusion is operation lines and increase of overtime work due to the increase of in-process-inventory and the delays in delivery dates for small quantity batch production. In this paper, the capacity planning is formulated by the LP (Linear Programming) method and an optimal solution is derived. In addition, the influences of standardization for a work center on operate costs, i. e., holding, manufacturing, assembling and labour casts are discussed.

The transportation problem based on interval demand functions is formulated and analyzed. The fuzzy relation between an amount supplied and a market price is represented by the demand function which has interval coefficients. Therefore an objective function of the transportation problem is represented by an interval function. In this paper, the transportation problem with the interval objective function is formulated as a multi-objective quadratic integer programming problem which has two objective functions : maximize the right limit and the left limit of the interval objective function. A computational algorithm for obtaining a non-dominated solution set of this problem using a branch-and-bound method is proposed and a numerical example is shown.

A broader understanding of contemporary Austria can be gained by examining the various important influences that have determined its present situation. Firstly, this paper briefly outlines Austria's geography, history, political system and international relations. This is followed by a more detailed description of the state of the economy and industrial structure. Moreover, because education is a fundamental part of any country, the article examines the education system in Austria, with particular emphasis on industrial engineering and management scicnces.
