The purpose of this paper is to design the conceptual framework for the intelligent decision support system(IDeSS-SP) which supports decision makers to plan their strategies. Firstly this paper describes that the ideas of system development for DSS and the techniques of artificial intelligence play important roles in developing IDeSS-SP. Secondly it analyzes the characteristics of strategic decision and formalizes its decision as a problem of AI. Finaly it analyzes the functions of IDeSS-SP and designs the framework of the system which is basically organized by the learning system, the decision system and the production system.

This paper examines some characteristics on recognition processes in vesual information processing through a structural approach. In particular, upper-case letters are taken up as visual stimuli, and the recognition processes are confined to the parafoveal vision without saccadic eye movements. Three hypotheses concerning the eccentricity to the visual stimulus from the fixation point, the transformation into recognized information, and the decision on eye movements are built and examined through three experiments with an eye-mark recorder. In addition, the relation between the eccentricity and the fixation duration for a letter recognition is considered through a letter recongnition difficulty model.

This paper derives an optimum decision rule of adjacent pairwise jobs to maximize the starting time of the first job in a backward scheduling for the two-machine flow-shop with the cinstraint that no jobs are permitted to be tardy. Several conditions under which the obtained schedule should coincide with the global optimum are shown. A computational algorithm is proposed to obtain the local optimum schedule on the basis of the analysis above. A numerical example is solved to show the effect of the proposed algorithm.

This paper discusses the results of an analysis of characteristics of the flow shop that manufactures products by orders, from the point of view of production sheduling. The flow shop has the features as follows : (i) the demand rate flucturates with time, and (ii) the manufacturing time interval permitted is short. Charactristics of the flow shop are affected by these features and a production sheduling method. So that, experimentation results of using a simulation method are showed and the load fluctuation on the machines are analyzed as follows : (i)a main component of load fluctuation is common to all machines depending on the demand rate fluctuatuin, and(ii) a load deviation on each machine from the main component is relatively small depending on job processing time.

The present study examines the relationship between the visual feedback mechanism and the task difficulty in the simultaneous motion from the microstructure of eye-movement time by use of eye-mark recorder. Six right-handed male students served as the subjects. A series of three experiments were carried out. In Exp. I, fortyeight combinations of four movement distances (Md=5,10,20 and 40cm), three target diameters (Td=8,16 and 32cm) and four spaces (S=5,10,20 and 30cm)were provided. The subject's task was to move the styluses of both hands in simultaneous motion as rapidly as possible. In Exp. II, the basic conditions (Md, Td and S)were that used in Exp. I, and the Ss were instructed to the styluses without hitting the error plates. In Exp. III, the Ss performend the same task under one-handed motion. From the results, it was suggested that the difficult movements which indicated large ID values were carried out under visual feedback control. On the other hand, the easy movements were performed without eye-hand coordination.

This paper presents a theoretical approach to optimum capacity planning under growing demand condition. It is assumed that all demand growth should be fulfilled by increased production capaciry, which acquiring cost contains a scale economy factor. A larger capacity accompanies a lower investment cost per unit as well as longer intervals between the subsequent investments required to cover the growing demand. On the other hand, a larger capacity requires a longer time before reaching its full capacity utilization. This paper explains the structure of this trade-off problem and shows how to find the optimum solution through a mathematical analysis of the problem.

An Incorporated production-maketing planning model for a single item in the type of production for stock replenishment is proposed. In this model, a simultaneous decision for both the production and the marketing departments is made under three managerial objectives, concerned with price, sales, and profit. Futhermore, finance planning is taken into account for making the most use of cash flow. The model established is of goal programming type. A solving algorithm for the specific case is developed. An example of the decision-making process for this model is demonstrated and the effectiveness is verified by numerical experiments.
